Name Changed for this. Me and dp both finish work a similar time on Mondays . He works a 20 min drive from home and and I use the bus which takes 50 mins opposite directions to each other. So seeing as it was dd school play I asked him if he could pick me up and drive me home so I had a bit extra time to get changed. It would work out he would have an extra 20 min journey but I would be home half hour sooner. Sorry if this is confusing. Anyway he said no as the extra driving would make him too tired to go to the play and he doesn't want to miss it. I say ok I understand I will go straight from work to the play and meet him outside the school. I arrive at school he's not there! I text him and he says he has just got out of work and is running and to tell dd he's really sorry! Not the first time he's been out late so think nothing of it and actually feel bad for him that he's missed play. Anyway.... Tuesday morning I get a txt from a mutual friend who works with dp saying ' I'm so grateful your 'dp' gave me a lift home yesterday the weather was awful wasn't it' I was like Shock so he lied and was actually 5 mins from the school anyway! Sorry if this is all confusing but I'm angry

He's hiding something

Pagwatch · 08/12/2016 00:52

No. most men don't see having perfectly rational conversations with their wives as 'grief' unless they are arseholes and most of the men I know are not arseholes. You may have a different experience. Lol.

GravyAndShite · 08/12/2016 07:44

How is your relationship?

Beebeeeight · 08/12/2016 08:25

Sometimes something is just so obvious you just can't see it.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 08/12/2016 09:15

Surely this has the be made up or he'd be under the fucking patio by now!?

Pagwatch · 08/12/2016 09:43

I'm trying to get my head around the idea that there is a woman out there who thinks 'no I won't pick you up because it's 20 minutes for me and that will leave me exhausted' is fair enough.
I can't really seem to manage it.

3luckystars · 08/12/2016 10:04

Mean fucker.

FuckYouDailyMail · 08/12/2016 11:56

Love the way he is trying to push some blame on you for why he lied rather than accept he was a selfish dick. He doesn't think much of you does he Confused

UnoriginalNN · 08/12/2016 12:11

People only lie when they feel like they've done something wrong

I would be furious for several reasons but making me and my DD walk home in the rain?! Lord have mercy

ineedabodytransplant · 08/12/2016 17:12

Probably been mentioned...but an extra bit of driving would have tired him out?

What a twat!

EastCoastDamsel · 08/12/2016 19:38

OP did you talk to DP?

DarkNanny · 09/12/2016 03:19

Pagwatch no lots of Men don't have conversations with their wives and lots of men do fib to avoid grief women do it too strangely enough it makes them human

NiceFalafels · 09/12/2016 03:56

I suspect he's telling the truth. Running late, bumped into colleague, dropped her off. All fine. It might have been nice if he had offered you a lift home after the play but walking in the rain is fine.

If he had drive you from work, it would have meant a 30 minute journey for you and a 40 minute journey for DH?

Pagwatch · 09/12/2016 07:41

DarkNanny

That's not what you said. You said most men lie for a quiet life.
You didn't say 'people might fib to avoid grief which is human.

The first one - which is what you posted - is sexist bollocks.

The second one is fair enough. If people have a reasonable expectation of getting in trouble for doing something wrong they may well fib to avoid that.

you could just say 'actually saying most men lie' was a huge exaggeration. I didn't really mean that' rather than pretend you said something else.

DarkNanny · 09/12/2016 23:40

Pagwatch you take this far to seriously

QODRestYeMerryGentlemen · 10/12/2016 11:00

Pagwatch! I've missed you

20 minutes additional driving, as a one off, would make him so tired he couldn't watch a 20 minute children's play. What on earth does he do for a living? Coal mining? How does he think you cope catching a bus for 50 minutes each way.

Sadly he sounds like one of those who thinks his hard working day means he gets to do fuck all else. Oh poor me I have to drive, you get to relax and 100 minutes to yourself everyday on that lovely bus journey. If he caught the bus he'd say ' oh I am exhausted I have to wait for the bus in the rain and often have to stand for 100 minutes every day, you have to pick me up every night because you get it easy driving' maybe I am being harsh.

He didn't wait 5 minutes for you after the play... Wow!

I'm sure as he left you to walk in the rain tea was on the table waiting for you and dd when you got in.

FuckYouDailyMail · 10/12/2016 19:46

No Dark Nanny I really don't think she does. Did you actually read the sexist rubbish you wrote?

Pagwatch · 10/12/2016 21:37
Grin

Aw DarkNanny. is that how you deal with being called out on posting shite?

Pagwatch · 10/12/2016 21:38

at QOD

Hey - how are you?

Smile
BakeOffBiscuits · 10/12/2016 22:33

I'm actually very concerned about the op's H.

Driving an extra 20 minutes would make him so exhausted he wouldn't be able to watch his dd's short play. Poor wee lambSad
I suggest you get him to go to his GP so they can find out what's wrong with him. Mind you I think we could diagnose him! He's a lazy uncaring twat who tell lies to his wife!

Sherlock35 · 10/12/2016 22:54

I've seen my fair share of school plays and people come in late to them all the time...

OP, I hope you're feeling a bit better about it all now x
