Page boys' parents won't let them wear their outfits (that I picked)... AIBU to think it's ridiculous?

I have 2 best friends, who are like my sisters, and I'm really close to their little boys. I wanted them to be page boys - my friends were really happy about this. Now they don't want them to be, due to the outfits... They 'came to a joint agreement' whatever that means...

I'm really hurt - I also think it's a bit ridiculous!

What are you expecting them to wear and who is paying?

clumsyduck · 21/11/2016 11:07

Depends on the outfit .....!

GabsViolet · 21/11/2016 11:09

It's just a 'normal' outfit. I have paid...

Can we see a photo of the outfits, hard to tell if yabu without seeing them?

Seeline · 21/11/2016 11:11

How old are the boys?
What is the outfit?

user1477282676 · 21/11/2016 11:12

Is it a horrid little waistcoat and grey trousers?

BaldBaby1970 · 21/11/2016 11:12

What reasons did they give for not wanting their children to wear the outfits?

MuseumOfCurry · 21/11/2016 11:12

We need to see the outfits.

Also, how old are the boys? They might be have their own views on the matter.

MauiWest · 21/11/2016 11:13

I really want to see the outfits now...

clumsyduck · 21/11/2016 11:13

Could there be another reason ?

It's kind of a given (well in my experience of being a bridesmaid a few times so not exactly the same ) that you may have to wear something not totally to your taste because it's not your day!

GetOutMyCar · 21/11/2016 11:14

Your friends don't sound particularly nice.

GabsViolet · 21/11/2016 11:14

They're 3 and 4, so I can't imagine it being them - if it was, they'd make a joke about it.

user1477282676 - why would that be horrid?

It's this suit: here

If the outfit involves Peter Pan collars, sailor suits or knickerbockers YABU.

FizzBombBathTime · 21/11/2016 11:16

Did they give you a reason why?

Sparlklesilverglitter · 21/11/2016 11:16

I don't see your friends problem. Seriously what is there beef??? Confused

You have paid for the outfits and it's normally to want page boy/bridesmaid colours to Blend in with the rest of the wedding party.

PhilODox · 21/11/2016 11:16

Did they say what they don't like?
Personally I like Tulip and Nettle style sailor outfits for 3 and 4 yos.

Sparlklesilverglitter · 21/11/2016 11:16

They look lovely for a wedding.

Your friends are strange

FizzBombBathTime · 21/11/2016 11:16

(Outfits look pretty normal btw, not sure what the parents were expecting tbh Confused)

Geretrude · 21/11/2016 11:17

Is it because the waistcoats are pink? Are they worried their boys will catch the gay?

Your friends sound horrible and monumentally stupid

GashleyCrumbTiny · 21/11/2016 11:17

What is it about the outfits? They (or possibly you in your summary) haven't really given enough information to know what to think. I'd gently ask for more details to "see if you can work out a compromise". And use their answer to judge whether you want to...

GrinchyMcGrincherson · 21/11/2016 11:17

Surely that's just a normal pageboy outfit. I don't see the issue? Is it because the waistcoat is pink? Are they too special to wear the same colour as everyone else because "it's a girls colour"??

DearMrDilkington · 21/11/2016 11:18

How old are the boys? I'm struggling to see what's wrong with the outfit.

MuseumOfCurry · 21/11/2016 11:18

Personally I like Tulip and Nettle style sailor outfits for 3 and 4 yos.

Me too.

GrinchyMcGrincherson · 21/11/2016 11:18

Or this Are they worried their boys will catch the gay?

Munchkin08 · 21/11/2016 11:19

They are lovely outfits - I can't understand what's not to like X
