To wonder if people actually can eat a full takeaway?

I just got a Chinese takeaway for myself as its been a long week and DH is out for dinner tonight and I'm stuffed. There's two thirds of the rice left and half the pork dish. It's an obscene amount of food for one person. Does anyone ever actually manage the full portion sent and if not, why don't they just send a real sized portion or at least indicate how many portions are in each tub. I feel designated at how much I've had to throw in the bin. I wish I liked it the next day but never can face eating it in the cold light of day.

i can if I'm really hungry. Plus sides lol

whyohwhy000 · 19/11/2016 19:52

You need to tell us how much this is - takeaway containers are not all the same.

crashdoll · 19/11/2016 19:53

YANBU and I'm a bit fat with a hearty appetite. This is why I don't bother ordering takeaways as often now, such a waste of money.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 19/11/2016 19:53

Nope, even DH has never finished one & we don't order lots. Just a main each , rice & naan, which we share & a few popadoms. It feels like such a waste!

Lovelongweekends · 19/11/2016 19:53

I can never manage a full portion- I either split it with the dc or have it for lunch the next day!

whyohwhy000 · 19/11/2016 19:53

But if I'm hungry I'll eat a whole large Domino's pizza. Grin

Justwhy · 19/11/2016 19:54

Yes. I'm confident many people could eat one dish and one rice. My husband for one.

Lilaclily · 19/11/2016 19:54

Dont throw it away Shock

Eat it tomorrow reheated !

LemonRedwood · 19/11/2016 19:55

Curry, yes.
Pizza, yes.
Chinese, no. There's always some left for breakfast Grin

Lilaclily · 19/11/2016 19:55

I can eat a fair bit of Chinese but never a whole pizza

P1nkP0ppy · 19/11/2016 19:56

No, never.
A main plus one side and a quarter portion of rice does me for two meals 😋

maddiemookins16mum · 19/11/2016 19:56

When it's just me and DP we get a set meal for two, it has 10 battered chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce, a portion of beef and mushrooms, a portion of special fried lice, a portion of chicken with veggies and prawn crackers. We can never finish it, I actually make up a portion fir the freezer. Best of all it costs £15.00!!

JustHereForThePooStories · 19/11/2016 19:56

I can't but DH can, and he often scoffs my leftovers.

I'm overweight, he's not.

Very fucking annoying.

TheBakeryQueen · 19/11/2016 19:56

I'll easily eat a whole portion of curry but I'll have salad with it, poppadums & maybe a spoon of rice.

slightlyglitterbrained · 19/11/2016 19:56

Depends which takeaway - some round here will put a reasonable portion in the box even if it means the box doesn't look full, others stuff it.

Unfortunately I can never remember which is which!

Blossomdeary · 19/11/2016 19:56

Or indeed a meal in a restaurant.

HugoBear · 19/11/2016 19:56

Put the (not rice) remainder in the freezer.

PuntasticUsername · 19/11/2016 19:56

I always reckon on getting at least two meals out of a normal takeway. Quite often the starter with salad is enough for one meal, and I save the whole main course for the next day.

There's an Indian near us that does a lovely thali-style mix-and-match meal - it's great cos you get a taste of loads of different things, it's a smaller meal so you can actually finish it, and it's only a fiver.

Lilaclily · 19/11/2016 19:56

Maddie you need a new restaurant Shock Wink

SaltyBitch · 19/11/2016 19:56

I always stop half way through and go back for more about 10 :)

Losgunna · 19/11/2016 19:57

Pizza yes, Indian yes (because I'll eat Indian until I feel sick Blush), Chinese? Very very very rarely

Hellmouth · 19/11/2016 19:58

I was going to cook, but now I really want a takeaway and am leaning towards pizza. I'll have a medium, DP will most likely have a large.

Plus sides ;)

Ta1kinpeece · 19/11/2016 19:58

Do you not just order a set menu for one and then you get a balanced meal and small portions ?

Or order two or three starters ?

I cannot comprehend deliberately buying food you will not be able to eat and then binning it.
I try never to bin food.

DH and I got Vietnamese tonight, ordered the right amount and ate every bite

PinkSwimGoggles · 19/11/2016 19:58

yanbu
we have 4 portions for 6.
it's too much!
