To not get slippers?

I just don't understand the need for slippers. I know people get cold feet...I do...so I wear socks.

If I need to go outside I put on shoes or flip flops...I wouldn't go outside in slippers and then wear them on the carpets...

My friend is insistent her children wear slippers indoors all the time.

She says they might slip over on the floor...mine never slipped! We, like her have hard floors...if their feet are all day in shoes and slippers, when do they get a chance to...I don't know...be free!?

Bare feet here as soon as I get in - hate the feeling of hot feet

Jenny i am with you about Mahabis. Fantastic.
And how exactly do slippers put you in the middle age category but Crocs don't???! Anyone beyond 12 wearing them looks .... Well.... Crugly?

I've now started a thread (in style & beauty) about the best socks...

I have a tier of slippers:

Summer: open toed, towelling sliders
Spring/Autumn: bog standard slippers from Tesco
When it's fucking freezing: fake uggs

Slippers - easy to slip on and off. Would never wear them outside - slip them off to put shoes on for the garden or bins. Hate people wearing outdoor footwear in the house (yuk). Slippers stop you hurting yourself if someone opens a door on to your feet or leaves pins/small toys on floor. Easy to kick off when putting feet up on settee.
Slippers - bliss.

Have you tried slipper socks with slippers yet for cold winters? Now that's a bliss of cosiness. I don't get how someone can be anti slippers? If you're getting cross that others wear slippers, then I guess YABU. Each to their own.

I like to have bare feet as long as it's warm enough and hate having hot feet but for me socks are way worse than slippers. They're so much more restrictive and claustrophobic, slippers much less so. Slippers in winter, bare feet or flip flops in summer.

I'm joining the no slipper camp. Bare feet in summer and socks (normal ones not slipper socks) in winter.

Good, cozy slippers are hygge!

YY to slippers adding to the hygge! Has anyone mentioned Glerups yet? They are the best slippers I've had yet for cold feet, they are felted wool. Mine are grey but Dd has a cute tiny red pair which make her look like a pixie.
I have fairly awful circulation and they are fabulous. A bit spendy but worth it. I also have some sheepskin ones with proper soles for bin-putting-out etc.
We are a shoes off indoors household, and bare feet is lovely in the summer, but socks just don't cut it for us in the winter.
Horses for courses, but YABU, Wink!

Cor I flipping love slippers. It's a bit of a running joke how many slippers I get through in a year, I absolutely muller mine. I yank it's because I do so much walking round the house rather than sitting on the sofa though.
As someone has said they stop your feet getting bashed. My children drag chairs across the kitchen to join me at the worktop and the thought of having a chair leg squashed onto my toes goes right through me, slippers solve that problem.
And they keep my perpetually cold feet warm.

I'm in the pro slipper camp.

I never used to wear slippers and have hard floors.
Then I got plantar fasciitis...for two and a half years!
Now I always slippers (well sketchers go walks, as normal slippers probably don't give enough support and I find most of them too hot) at home.

Oh I love my slippers! I find my hard floors really cold most of the year and in the winter I wear the fleecy boot type - sheer bliss. Those slipper sock things aren't warm enough for me.

I wear slippers indoors all the time. My children don't. They walk round on the hard floor, where the dogs live in socks, then when they get onto the carpet in the hallway they make dog hair footprints. Really annoys me. I have to vacuum at least twice a day. If they wore slippers they wouldn't make such big footprints as the hairs don't stick to hard soles like they do socks. 😡
