To wonder if scots will be voting to stay in the EU?

I agree I hope they make the right choice for them. I just wondered what their feelings were, as in is it in the best interests of Scotland as a nation?

I did wonder if people would vote tactically in order to gain Scottish independence.

Fwiw I think a second Scottish referendum would lead to a Scottish breakaway.

I think it's dangerous to vote tactically though if you want to stay, but you would like another indyref more.

You vote 'leave' so the UK votes to leave. Therefore SNP holds amother indyref because Scotland has voted to 'stay'. BUT! Everyone has voted leave as they are also voting tactically so in actual fact the Scots have also voted 'leave' , so they are in tune with the rest of the UK and no indyref required. Does that make any sense at all .

If the UK votes to leave, and then there's a second Indyref, and then the Scots vote to leave, won't they have to ask for readmission to the EU?

I think Scots will vote to stay in becuase they believe Scotland benefits from the EU, not to trigger another referendum.

I'm guessing most Scots are thoroughly sick of the campaign already though, as this was done to death during the indy Ref.

Im more worried about Boris' rhetoric about how if the vote is Leave we will then be able to negotiate a better deal with EU.

During the indy ref, if Scotland had left they would have applied to rejoin the EU, and we would both be in it together.

If the UK leaves now, and an indy Scotland rejoins, that will make border issues far more difficult. Things that are allowed one side of the border will be illegal on the other. A real mess.

As a Scot I find this highly ironic as the "no camp" said that a yes vote would mean we'd be kicked out the EU. Now even if our whole country votes to stay in, and England votes out we'd still be pulled out. Our votes count for nothing

Will the referendum results be published by country ?

I think the upcoming Scottish Parliament election will be more telling; if the SNP sweep the board with an independence-heavy manifesto (which I think will happen), a second referendum on the matter will be inevitable, and sooner rather than later.

SNP is, I think, strongly pro-EU, so in the event of independence, Scotland would almost certainly apply for membership.

Personally I'll be voting to stay in the EU, not for any indy reason just that's how I feel about it.

Find it funny that during the Indy ref last time that my boss 'advised' us all to vote no because voting yes would leave Scotland out of the EU (where our company does most of its business). Always thought that when it came to the Brexit ref that the rest of the UK would vote to leave so was odd advice, Scotland would have to apply to join the EU down both of these routes

I can't believe that DC plonked the Referendum right after Welsh/Scottish/Irish elections - that's incredibly disrespectful, and will mess up the elections.

Scotland has more than one vote in this referendum and I doubt all scots will vote the same way so a vote for 'stay' might still mean a couple of million voted to leave and only a few thousand more voted to stay. Also where does this regionalisation end? What if Orkney voted to leave in the EU referendum or stay in the uk in a new indyref? I suspect SNP will want to have their cake and eat it.

Agreed. Some of them the same camp who want out now.

Sallyingforth Scotland already has a separate legal system from England and it's not a 'real mess' so I don't think a difference in EU membership will have quite the impact you imagine.

Some will vote yes and some will vote no.

And alot won't bother

It throws up so many interesting issues. Coinciding with the no doubt SNP win at the elections, I wonder how the issues will change for the voters? The oil price is currently much lower so that affects Indyscot too. Or maybe not? If the majority of scots vote stay and the rest vote leave the EU would Brussels let them stay on their own terms without Scottish independence?

One of the big selling points for the No campaign in 2014 was the only way for Scotland stay in the EU was to remain part of Britain. Quite ironic really. I am still undecided about the EU ref but I know Scotland is generally more pro EU than England but maybe not by a huge margin. We'll see.
