Do married couples actually have sex on wedding night?

Ok so not exactly an AIBU question but...

myself (not married) and some unmarried friends are discussing whether couples actually have sex on their wedding night, or are they too drunk/tired/emotional to DTD?

Any insights welcome - we're curious!

Was tired and emotional but not drunk (was also 12 weeks pregnant!). Yes, we dtd on our wedding night, very lovely it was too :)

We didn't, but then we were on a (non-sleeper) train from Dundee to London overnight, en route to Paris via Hovercraft. (Those were the days...)

Once we arrived in Paris, however... Grin

We did, despite being tired from it being such a long day. Totally worth it!

The trend with our friends getting married now is to have a select number of guests back to the bridal suite after the wedding evening to all play games/drink/take ecstasy together. Don't care if I'm old fashioned but I can't see much romance in that. Hmm

We didn't. I was knackered (had been up for 20hrs by bedtime) and I just wanted a wee without wrestling with my dress, a shower and my bed!
DH came out the bathroom to find me in my Spanx with my hair all unpinned and sticking up and burst out laughing saying Christ that's ruined the moment!

We didn't. We were super knackered and a bit drunk.

After my friend's wedding she came knocking on our (me and some other friends) hotel room door as she needed help getting out of her dress Grin I don't think even they did it!

Seriously, it's silly to get hung up on the perceived significance of "wedding night sex" imo.

Yes! Was quite hyped up and didn't feel drunk (despite drinking).

I was glad we did because I was woken early the next morning by period pain, and that night we were on an overnight flight to our honeymoon.
