Do married couples actually have sex on wedding night?

Ok so not exactly an AIBU question but...

myself (not married) and some unmarried friends are discussing whether couples actually have sex on their wedding night, or are they too drunk/tired/emotional to DTD?

Any insights welcome - we're curious!

Yes!

Cineraria · 20/08/2015 12:25

We were so tired that by the end of the evening we were both expecting to go straight to sleep as soon as we'd managed to remove the last guests from our house and the clothes/hairpins from our bodies.

when we got upstairs, I saw that I'd left my intended wedding night outfit (a see through silk chiffon nightdress with silk satin borders and matching tie sided frilly knickers) by the bed that morning so I put it on while I was waiting for DH to brush his teeth as I thought I might never wear it otherwise and when he saw the wedding nightie was on, the wedding night was back on too!

ShortandSweeter · 20/08/2015 12:26

yes, we did.

noddingninja · 20/08/2015 12:38

Yep we did. We were knackered and drunk but managed to DTD in the jacuzzi for two, then on the bed.

Sallystyle · 20/08/2015 12:38

Nope.

Not for either of my marriages.

First time I was too tired. Second time I was 6 months pregnant and tired and DH was too drunk to get it up anyway Hmm

SuffolkNWhat · 20/08/2015 12:39

Hell no! Far too tired/drunk. Plus we spent the wedding night at my parents house.

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 20/08/2015 12:55

Do we really need to know how people did it fgs?

BeautyQueenFromMars · 20/08/2015 12:58

We did. Think I remember rather more than DH though, as I wasn't quite as hammered! Grin Also Hmm as he promised he wouldn't get so drunk...

mrstweefromtweesville · 20/08/2015 12:59

I was married. We had sex on our wedding night.

CalleighDoodle · 20/08/2015 13:00

If this thread has taught us anything, it is that hair pins prevent wedding night pregnancy.

whattheseithakasmean · 20/08/2015 13:07

We snuck up to our hotel room after the meal & before the evening reception - 'twas fab.

TheCatsMother99 · 20/08/2015 13:09

Nope but made up for that the morning afterGrin

WyldChyld · 20/08/2015 13:17

Yes =D when we finally got me out of the dress, I nipped to the bathroom and put on my lingerie - corset, stockings, suspenders, high heels, fancy knickers, sexy dressing gown thing...

Bless him, DH went "you look lovely. But do you mind taking it off, I want a shag but I'm too knackered to unwrap you". Quite happily obliged, looked fab but Christ it was uncomfortable!

backtowork2015 · 20/08/2015 13:28

nope, had my period. Great day but constant background worry was I was standing in front of so many people in a white dress with a threat of leaking. ....

julesldn · 20/08/2015 13:35

Calleigh - you're so right hahaha!! Maybe it should be in the hairdressers brief? 'Please hold off on the pins as I'd like to try and have sex tonight. Thanks.' ????

Still loving all these answers. Me and my unmarried friends are having a giggle over so many of them

We were knackered and drunk but yes, we did. Had a bath together with a bottle of champagne at about 2am, then DTD. It was fun!

MrsBalustradeLanyard · 20/08/2015 13:45

Nope, got to bed about 4am, completely knackered.

Waited until first day of our honeymoon, cracked out the sexy underwear and made DD.

Hulababy · 20/08/2015 13:46

My wedding night wasn't an overly late night. We got marred abroad, just the two of us. So we had plenty of time to relax during the afternoon/evening. We did have to get up at 5am the net day though to start the first safari venture out.

Our church blessing and party a couple of weeks later was far busier, and involved a much later night (early morning) and a lot more alcohol! But not too early a check out the next day.

ApollO88 · 20/08/2015 13:47

love this thread. im getting married in november to fella of 5 years. we wont even be in our own bed as we are loaning it out to guests attending the wedding

Iusedtobeapenguin · 20/08/2015 13:50

Yes we had a sleepy drunken fumble.

But we had sneaked off for a few go's during the day which had a bit more gusto to them Grin

waitaminutenow · 20/08/2015 13:55

We did! We hadn't seen each other for a month prior to the wedding morning....enough said!!

ThursdayLastWeek · 20/08/2015 13:59

Nope, too tired, too drunk & DH too both to undo the buttons on my dress in less than about 45 mins Grin

SymbollocksInteractionism · 20/08/2015 14:05

We didn't but then I was pregnant and knackered so I'm amazed I managed to stay awake past 11pm!!

IceBeing · 20/08/2015 14:07

yup but it wasn't great as too tired and late and already beginning to feel hung over...

sort of wish we hadn't

ExasperatedAlmostAlways · 20/08/2015 14:07

We didn't cause we didn't go to bed till 7am. We did then though.
