Do married couples actually have sex on wedding night?

julesldn · 20/08/2015 01:39

Ok so not exactly an AIBU question but...

myself (not married) and some unmarried friends are discussing whether couples actually have sex on their wedding night, or are they too drunk/tired/emotional to DTD?

Any insights welcome - we're curious!

Nope, too tired and the house was too full of people. Made up for it next night...

Nake99 · 20/08/2015 08:13

I went to bed at 3am and my husband came to bed at 5.30am. We had an amazing day and night. My family were over from the states so a few of them stayed up all night putting the world to rights. Grin. Made up for it later the next though!

Nope. I was drinking champagne with the guests til about 6am. We very rarely have family get togethers and spend time with people we enjoy yet we get every day of our lives to shag!
Plus after said alcohol consumage DH's willy would have needed rolling up and shoving on a stick for it to stand a chance of DTD

Shutthatdoor · 20/08/2015 08:20

Not telling, but it's our 7 year wedding anniversary on Sunday and dh has just told me he is taking me away Sunday morning grin can't wait x

Enjoy Wine

We did but it was a bit half-heartedly tbh. By the time we got home, got my dress off and took the 3 million hair pins out of my hair it was about 1am and we'd both been up since about 6am and drinking for hours. So yes we DTD but it was a quickie and I think we both did it more out of tradition than romance.

Sandbrook · 20/08/2015 10:42

We didn't, far too tired.
I've noticed at the last 3 or 4 weddings we've been to, the bride has gone to bed and the groom has stayed up drinking.
I find it really sad, there's no way I'd have done that. It's 1 night to go to bed together. Even without the sex

PerspicaciaTick · 20/08/2015 10:53

We did. Very giggly drunk. Was very funny trying to extract me from dress and ending up with confetti everywhere.

DOnt waste your life saving up for a big wedding

Run off together and get married

ShelaghTurner · 20/08/2015 11:03

Until this thread I had completely forgotten the mid reception quickie we tried to have. Seem to remember we were disturbed by my small bridesmaids who were worried about where we had gone. We were staying at the venue so in our room, they didn't find us down a deserted hallway or anything!

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 20/08/2015 11:07

It was both of us who stayed up drinking at our wedding!

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 20/08/2015 11:12

No, DH was too drunk.

I started to take some pins out of my hair and turned to ask him to help me with my dress and he was flat out asleep. I had to go back down to ask my bridesmaid to help me. Grin

I did enjoy a hot chocolate looking out of the hotel room window watching a storm at 2am mind.

julesldn · 20/08/2015 11:12

All these replies are amazing (and some are hilarious!) I'm genuinely surprised that most DHs have been able to get it up to be honest!

Keep the stories coming... ????????????

AddyRonDak · 20/08/2015 11:13

Nope, maybe did it about ten months later but that was after DH had finished Chemo and was less knackered. Grin

TriJo · 20/08/2015 11:14

Not a chance. We were both up until around 5am and just collapsed into bed. Sealed the deal the next day and well and truly made up for it on honeymoon!

CalleighDoodle · 20/08/2015 11:17

We did and it was great. Thanks for asking.

LaurieFairyCake · 20/08/2015 11:19

I shagged him in the dress Grin

A favourite memory of the day is me on top, bouncing on his knob but being unable to see him as Id spread the skirts out so they covered him and the bed Grin

Arf. Grin

I didn't do it in the dress, I'd already taken that off half way through the reception and put a fitted dress on, but my underwear was pretty hilarious...

We had petal confetti. It was literally everywhere. When he took the basque off, it all poofed out! We broke down in fits of giggles. I bet the room cleaner did too!

We didn't. Nor on honeymoon.

I had had my appendix removed a few days earlier.

Poor DH Sad

Monkeyinshoes · 20/08/2015 11:42

No, was too tired once got the dress off and all the pins out of my hair.

The only banging we did that night was when my head went into the door frame as he carried me over the threshold.

CerseiLannistersEyebrow · 20/08/2015 11:51

Nope, too drunk and my family had a massive fight which meant my wedding night was ruined.

Sandbrook · 20/08/2015 12:00

Oh no Cersei that's awful.
How can people misbehave like that at someone's wedding, never mind a family wedding.

Mimigolightly · 20/08/2015 12:02

Nope - I fell asleep with my chin on my chest as exDH was taking the hundreds of pins out of my hair.
