Do married couples actually have sex on wedding night?

julesldn · 20/08/2015 01:39

Ok so not exactly an AIBU question but...

myself (not married) and some unmarried friends are discussing whether couples actually have sex on their wedding night, or are they too drunk/tired/emotional to DTD?

Any insights welcome - we're curious!

We didn't but we did have the world's biggest cheeseboard to make up for it.

BreakfastAtStephanies · 20/08/2015 20:00

Yes
DH undid the many buttons at the back of my dress while kissing my neck and murmuring " I Love You Mrs ( brand new married name )"
Massive turn-on.
21st Anniversary coming up in september

Bulbasaur · 20/08/2015 20:01

Wedding night? No. Honeymoon sex was amazing though.

Rainbowlou1 · 20/08/2015 20:06

We ended up in a nightclub after our wedding and then got back to the hotel around 4am..I didn't think he would be 'up' for it Wink after all that alcohol and I couldn't be bothered to take my dress off but we managed it (just)Grin

HermioneWeasley · 20/08/2015 20:08

Asked DW. Neither of us can remember. Romantic!

Orangeisthenewbanana · 20/08/2015 20:09

Not the wedding night, DH got rather more pissed than he intended Angry. The next morning was more successful though!

1moremum · 20/08/2015 20:10

We didnt. I had been sick with a stomach bug from 4 days before, though luckily woke up feeling well on the day. Halfway through dinner with our kids (at a restaurant, we just had small registry office wedding, only us and children) dh leans overs and tells me he must go home now, and walks out! By the time i have paid and gotten the uneaten food in carryout boxes, he was barfing behind the car and he spent the next 3 days as ill as I had been.

emwithme · 20/08/2015 20:23

Yes...and then we had our first row as a married couple (over something totally inconsequential).

nicknameidea · 20/08/2015 20:49

We did but it was rubbish. I was shattered and he was very pissed. And he partially tore his 'banjo string' so not only was the wedding night sex shite, we couldn't dtd at all during our honeymoon as it was healing. Confused

julesldn · 20/08/2015 21:26

Still loving these stories... Such a mixed bag!

Wonder how many of you married folk got up the next morning and told these stories after the obligatory 'how did you sleep?' question paired with giggles and raised eyebrows... My guess is not many! ????

We didn't. Our wedding was very low key, small and relaxed. Dh was a bit tipsy, I was sober (I dont drink), but neither of us are social creatures, so we were just peopled out. It took us a week before we had sex, and have only done it once since we got married (2 weeks ago Grin )

thecatsarecrazy · 20/08/2015 21:40

We did but we were flying on honeymoon the next day and u was more bothered about packing. Dh forgot half his clothes

thecatsarecrazy · 20/08/2015 21:41

I. Stupid phone!

Rainbowlou1 · 20/08/2015 21:56

Banjo string Grin

Writerwannabe83 · 20/08/2015 21:56

We didn't.

I had been up since 6am and we retired to our honeymoon suite at about 00.30am to find the staff had ran us a huge bubble bath surrounded by candles in our luxurious bathroom so we obviously jumped right in. When we got out we were faced with all our cards abc presents and like kids we couldn't stop ourselves from opening them all Smile

By the time we got to bed it was 3am, we were EXHAUSTED and sex was definitely not on the agenda!

FindoGask · 20/08/2015 21:59

No. My husband patiently removed about 257 kirby grips from my hair and then we each passed out on our twin beds in the B&B room we'd mistakenly reserved. Each had a miniature "Celebration" on the pillow.

backtowork2015 · 20/08/2015 22:11

mini celebration! nice touch pn your wedding night, hope it was the malteaser just to really push the boat out Grin . I was the one who posted I had my period but just wanted to add I did give him a special treat instead Wink

Moln · 20/08/2015 22:13

Arf at the twin beds!

I've a friend who waited until marriage to have sex, then when she did get married calculated it wasn't a safe time to get married (she doesn't use contraception for the same reasons she didn't have sex before marriage) so they then waited two weeks or so!!

MedusaIsHavingaBadHairday · 20/08/2015 22:19

We managed a quickie between the ceremony and evening reception as I couldn't wait to get out of my wedding dressed and DH reckoned we might as well make the most of him unwrapping me :)

Just as well as at some point during the evening his RAF mates padlocked him to a chair and kept the key.... Grin

MedusaIsHavingaBadHairday · 20/08/2015 22:23

Dress not dressed!

SellMySoulForSomeSleep · 20/08/2015 22:32

Nope, He tried. I fell asleep while he took my bra off. I was shattered!

Sheezus · 20/08/2015 22:33

We did, can't call it wedding night though.
We watched the sun rise over the Atlantic and wandered off to bed, merrily happy drunk.
Then saluted the last of the die hards in the residents bar of the hotel.

Happy days!

NappyValleyHippyCrack · 20/08/2015 22:33

Yes. Twice. And very early the next morning.
We didn't put any pressure on ourselves though, we even said beforehand that if we didn't it wasn't a bad thing and that somehow made it sexier Wink

silverglitterpisser · 20/08/2015 22:42

We did but we were tired, very drunk etc so it was lovely but wasn't the most mind-blowing or adventurous. That got saved for the honeymoon Grin .

GrinAndTonic · 20/08/2015 22:45

We did but only because we felt we should.
I just lay there and starfished it Grin
