WIBU to call 101 on my nasty, naked neighbour?

Just that. Is it a police matter?

11:30 pm. Dark outside. Neighbour in flat directly opposite mine, lights on, no curtains in bedroom, wondering back and forward around bedroom bollock naked chatting to girlfriend (clothed).

This is a tenement flat with large, below-the-waist height windows. One cannot be oblivious to the potential of neighbours copping an eyeful.

I don't want to go all Plymouth Brethren on someone if it's just a one off. Should I wait for a repeat performance?

This person is hermetically sealed to his desktop pc 24/7 and I have long harboured suspicions about what he may be watching. The flat also has a history of previous tenants shagging against the selfsame bedroom window at 11am on a weekday morning.

Perfectly prepared to be told I am BU. Smile

Calling the police because someone is naked in their own bedroom?

YABU

MerryInthechelseahotel · 26/06/2014 23:57

Yanbu but I would just pull your own curtains!

MerryInthechelseahotel · 26/06/2014 23:57

Well you would be U to call police!!! Just saw that!

gotnotimeforthat · 26/06/2014 23:58

I think YABU he is in flat not the street.

I would perhaps tell him to invest in some net curtains or blinds though, or to close his curtains at least.

I'm guessing the view isn't that impressive for you? Grin

WowserBowser · 26/06/2014 23:58

Put the binoculars down!

UnicornSparkles · 26/06/2014 23:58

Close your own curtains?

Zucker · 27/06/2014 00:00

Close your own curtains and stop looking!

steff13 · 27/06/2014 00:00

In my city, it's perfectly legal to be naked in front of your own windows in your own home guess how I know.

Just close your curtains.

mindthegap79 · 27/06/2014 00:01

Yanbu, but yes to pulling the curtains. I wonder if he's pacing up and down wondering why his neighbour opposite keeps staring at him.

I do think yabu for speculating about what he might be looking at on his computer! And how do YOU know how much time he spends at the computer in his own home??

fluffymouse · 27/06/2014 00:02

Lol I think you need to close your curtains. This is not a police matter, they have far better things to do.

Pumpkinpositive · 27/06/2014 00:02

I have closed my curtains, promptly! When is flashing not flashing? The apartments are almost within touching distance.

Where is the emoticon on MN? Envy

Stop looking before your neighbours call police for you stalking them?

hoobypickypicky · 27/06/2014 00:04

So instead of closing your own curtains or walking into another room/looking elsewhere you called 101 about someone naked in their own bedroom?

And you wonder what he's doing on his desktop? You'd wonder about me too then! I work from home, much of it online, and my hobby (apart from MN!) causes me to be online in much of my spare time to. Is that a crime?

Even if he's watching something which you don't approve of it doesn't mean that he's necessarily doing anything illegal. He may be watching iplayer, he may be researching his family tree, he may be watching porn, who's to know? And unless it's serious stuff of a totally illegal, as opposed to personally unacceptable, nature, what's it to do with anyone else?

It would be unkind of me to say YABU out and out but I would say that you are over reacting and ask, without meaning to sound patronising, whether there's a backstory to your concerns.

mindthegap79 · 27/06/2014 00:04

Just count your blessings that he's not getting out a miniature trampoline like Victor Meldrew's neighbour (also guilty of being naked in his own bedroom!)

Pumpkinpositive · 27/06/2014 00:05

Because he's never off it. I actually wondered if he'd died sitting up at one point.

Tonight confirms he has not.

In the best MN tradition, I maintain I am NBU. Y'all can dry up. Grin Grin

Strip off and start waving at him.

steff13 · 27/06/2014 00:06

Because he's never off it.

How much time do you spend watching him?

Linskibinski · 27/06/2014 00:06

Ooh tricky! Yes, close those blinds but step away from the emergency phone! The fuzz will love this kind of job but you may be left unsatisfied with the result. Send him a nicely worded ditty along the lines of put your todger away, it ain't big and it ain't clever! Then, If you keep getting a nightly floor show you are well within your rights to call in the 999 club. Sleep tight and don't have nightmares now... Grin

DottyDooRidesAgain · 27/06/2014 00:06

Is he stood in front of the window spinning it helicopter fashion?

Or does he appear to e getting dressed?

If it's the first report to your local PCO as that is just nasty.

If it's the second the stop being so bloody nosy you stalker Grin

AnyFucker · 27/06/2014 00:07

Get a hobby, love

Voyeurism will only get you arrested

fluffymouse · 27/06/2014 00:07

Yes! Have a game of naked chicken. Let us know who wins..

Pumpkinpositive · 27/06/2014 00:07

So instead of closing your own curtains or walking into another room/looking elsewhere you called 101 about someone naked in their own bedroom?

Yes, that's exactly what I did, Hooby. Maybe read the OP again? Hmm

VirkeligRodet · 27/06/2014 00:11

i'm sure my neighbours out the back think i parade around my bedroom naked but it's flesh coloured underwear. they probably can't see that 100 feet away.

I sympathise. I used to live in an apartment complex. Although giving it the name complex makes it sound more upmarket and spacious than it was. I was washing up once, looking out the kitchenette window and there was a man doing the same thing in the block that faced me. He turned off his lights and continued washing up.
