WIBU to call 101 on my nasty, naked neighbour?

Pumpkinpositive · 26/06/2014 23:54

Just that. Is it a police matter?

11:30 pm. Dark outside. Neighbour in flat directly opposite mine, lights on, no curtains in bedroom, wondering back and forward around bedroom bollock naked chatting to girlfriend (clothed).

This is a tenement flat with large, below-the-waist height windows. One cannot be oblivious to the potential of neighbours copping an eyeful.

I don't want to go all Plymouth Brethren on someone if it's just a one off. Should I wait for a repeat performance?

This person is hermetically sealed to his desktop pc 24/7 and I have long harboured suspicions about what he may be watching. The flat also has a history of previous tenants shagging against the selfsame bedroom window at 11am on a weekday morning.

Perfectly prepared to be told I am BU. Smile

Is he stood in front of the window spinning it helicopter fashion?

Or does he appear to e getting dressed?

No attempt to get dressed. Wandering around, at window, back from window, wandering around room, naked. Bright light in room.

Giving proximity of flats across, difficult to think he wouldn't have anticipated the potential for being seen.

I've obviously had a sheltered life. long may it continue

Why has no one asked the most important question?

PhaedraIsMyName · 27/06/2014 00:16

I would have thought it's generally going to be legal to walk around his own house without clothes on.

It may however be illegal if he's intentionally exhibiting himself, or just flagrantly being careless about not closing the blinds. You'd probably need to demonstrate a pattern of behaviour.

He likely wouldn't get in trouble for a one off instance unless you can demonstrate he was doing it intentionally and to offend.

Pumpkinpositive · 27/06/2014 00:16

Why has no one asked the most important question?

Was he wearing glasses?

Actually yes, he was. How did you guess?

I actually had a similar call passed down to me (as a police despatcher)

It was immediately closed as no police attendance and no one was sent.

There are no blinds. Fingers crossed its a one off.

It's also a bit harsh to call him nasty just cos he wanders around his flat naked

Pipbin · 27/06/2014 00:22

Would it be worth putting a note through his door mentioning that you can see him and would rather not.

hoobypickypicky · 27/06/2014 00:27

"Yes, that's exactly what I did, Hooby. Maybe read the OP again?"

I did. I'm sorry. I skim-read it the first time. My apologies, OP. But yes, YsureWBU to call 101!

Chippednailvarnish · 27/06/2014 00:27

Why has no one asked the most important question?

Now I'm in bed trying not to laugh too loudly!!!

Chipolata or Bratwurst?

Pumpkinpositive · 27/06/2014 00:27

It's a tenement block, with secure entry.

Never mind, this is Glasgow. If some of my neighbours clock him, they'll probably have more persuasive means of requesting he invests in a pair of pyjamas.

oh wise up

m0therofdragons · 27/06/2014 00:32

Who looks out their window at 11.30pm?! If you shut your own curtains you wouldn't have seen him. Most people would giggle and tell their friends not dial 101. Bizarre thread.

Pumpkinpositive · 27/06/2014 00:36

Who looks out their window at 11.30pm?!

Bizarre question.

I live in a tenement flat with huge bay windows, same as flat directly across the way. Walked into my living room, my curtains still open, he has no blinds. His bedroom light was on and he's standing in front of the window stark naked. The flats are very close. I would need to be blind not to have noticed.

No binoculars required. No long range cameras. No Andy Coulson on speed dial.

Pipbin · 27/06/2014 00:37

You could put a sign in your window saying something like 'if you can see this then I can see you'.
I see your point though, there is a fine line between strolling round your flat in the nip or getting your jollies from hoping people see your old chap.
The question is; did he have a stonk on?

TheSpottedZebra · 27/06/2014 00:42

Arf at 'stonk'

OP, you change your wifi id to: man at no.x, we can see your todger

SquigglySquid · 27/06/2014 00:44

Pipbin Yes, and is it a grower or a shower? Grin

someonestolemynick · 27/06/2014 00:44

Please call the police. They'll appreciate the lough.

"Is this the police? I'd like to report a guy walking around naked...in his own flat."

Seriously? I walk around naked at home every now and again, sometimes I pass a window. If one of my neighbours called the cops on me, I would be seriously questioning what made them stare into my windows.

This is ridiculous.

WorraLiberty · 27/06/2014 00:47

Just close your blinds and stop perving over the poor guy! Grin

PhaedraIsMyName · 27/06/2014 00:56

OP, You're getting an unnecessarily hard time here. Seriously the poster questioning you about looking out of your windows at 11.30 or you're the one who should close your curtains.

I notice you are in Glasgow. One of the lovely things about Scotland is it's light until 10-11 at this time of year. We don't close our living room curtains at all at this time of year, but bedroom curtains definitely.

I'm not convinced the Glasgow bobbies (who might be more familiar with tenement living) would be quite as dismissive as posters on here think, especially if this becomes a regular thing.

lifehasafunnywayofhelpinguout · 27/06/2014 00:58

Putting it bluntly. It's home, his body his business, so if he wants to be naked in the confinment of his four walls, it's up to him.
If a man being naked in his own home Iw the polices' only worry then they have none, x

PhaedraIsMyName · 27/06/2014 01:01

life it's not quite as simple as that. Might be if his house is in the middle of nowhere and OP needs a telescope to see in. Across the street in a tenement flat isn't quite as clear cut as many of you seem to think.

Boudica1990 · 27/06/2014 01:19

I am so glad you don't live by me, this week I've been in my garden topless Blush

No I wasn't sunbathing topless...the dog stole my expensive comfy bra off the bed whilst I was dressing and I just ran/waddled quickly after her, to then play a 5min game of "give it back" in the garden desperately hoping she didn't attempt to bury it.

He is in his own flat, leave him to it, avert your eyes. Have you never seen the episodes of friends with "naked guy" haha

In short you can't call the police, it's not a crime to be naked in your house.

Redglitter · 27/06/2014 01:22

I work in Glasgow too so no definitely don't call the police. Wink

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 27/06/2014 01:26

Is he naked too?
Could you call some friends to watch
