If you voted UKIP - what are you hoping will happen

I didn't vote in the election, but I hope the ones with good jobs will stay, and the one reliant on benefits will leave.

I voted UKIP. I expect nothing to happen to the immigrants that have come here, they have done nothing wrong. What I hope for, is future immigration to be restricted just like we do with all the other countries outside of the EU.

They haven't even brought out their policy manifesto for 2015 yet. Certain members of UKIP stupid comments and people are taking that as the party policy when it is not.

If UKIP believe we should not be in Europe does that mean they have to immediately resign as soon as they are elected to the European Parliament as they don't believe that we should be part of it?

I didn't vote them but I do believe we need to tighten up like Australia etc. Their points system is far better than what we have.

The downside to that is many immigrants will work for NMW whereas lots of people born here won't as they see it as beneath them or their benefits net them more. How we counter that will be interesting.

Not seen anything on maternity or sick leave but don't pay much attention to the UKIP so have seen little of their views.

I think you'll find that people on unemployment benefits aren't able to turn down NMW work.

Happy, I don't believe it's true that British people find NMW jobs "beneath them".

Imagine the scenario, a job is listed for a cleaner in a large corporate HQ in central London. Two people see the advert and consider applying.

Person one is a British national. He lives in a London suburb and is currently claiming JSA, as is his wife, they also have DCs. He does the calculations and realises, by the time he's.paid for travel/pack ups, he will actually be worse off, so he holds off.

Person two is a Polish national. He lives with seven others in shared accommodation in London, in a house that is illegally overcrowded but relatively cheap. He can live carefully and send back a chunk of his wages to his wife and DCs who are still living in Poland. He applies for the job.

The problem isn't the immigrants, the problem is employers refusing to pay a living wage so your average Briton can't afford to take the job. THAT is what governments should be clamping down on.

ballina, I'm not sure that someone claiming JSA will be able to turn work down on anything other than a very short term basis, just because it doesn't pay well.

There is an expectation that people take a job when it's offered. I'm not aware that people are allowed to indefinitely turn down work because it doesn't pay a salary they feel they can live on.

Happy, do you live in an area where there are lots of new immigrants? If so, how has it affected your quality of life directly?

We know nothing of UKIP's manifesto etc... All we know is that they are anti Europe , echoing the feelings of many Brits so they win.
People voted with their heart not their head. There are no statistics of (those very much hated )immigrants and how much they claim benefits that's if they do. Most come here for work to make money and take back home. I hardly think there are many immigrants who claim . It's the media who stares it up; making them sound like scroungers . All the immigrants I met are the most hard working people I have ever met. They put the rest of us to shame.

The UKIP needs an excellent manifesto to win the general elections that's if they did .

A living wage is subject to opinion though. Very naive to believe that one salary can cover two adults and children but people believe they are entitled to not work and have as many children as they like without even thinking of the financial side of things.

If the man in your scenario turns down the job, then hopefully his JSA will be stopped. We'd all like the perfect job with perfect hours and wage but life isn't a dream and we have to be realistic. Turning down work as your benefits are more just highlights a low work ethic and that our benefit system has gotten way out of hand.

There is a firm in the next town that uses a lot of agency, mostly immigrants as it's hard shift work. Their work ethic is amazing, it shames many people born here. No job is beneath them as they just want to earn.

Capping immigration will have downsides as well as upsides so needs to be done correctly.

I voted UKIP, and I don't expect anything to happen to the immigrants already here. However we need tighter boarder controls, and I believe we won't achieve that all the while we have to do what the eu says.

Quite simple. The employer will have to raise the wages and working conditions. But people shouldn't be able to stop on benefits for years, either.

A person with a mortage or high rent to pay cannot compete with a Polish person living in cramped lodgings for peanuts, sending money back to poland.

No job is beneath them as they just want to earn

Umm.....there is lots more incentive to work too though isn't there? That being the enormous difference in general cost of living here and in EE countries. the EE nationals can make a huge difference to the qualitiy of their lives and their families lives back home, by living here and sending money back...

I would expect new immigration to be dramatically curtailed until we caught up with providing enough homes and all the rest for everyone here now.
then I would expect a normal points system to be introduced.

The problem is that the current government declared that it would never be more cost effective to claim benefits than to work. Their solution was to cut benefits whereas, had they any common sense, they would have raised wages.

I maintain that a British national with children cannot compete with a child free immigrant. I haven't heard anything from UKIP that would suggest they intend to rectify this situation as removing the immigrants will not lower the cost of living.

I'm not sure any party has plans to massively increase the supply of social housing or radically change planning permission laws.

I live in an area with one of the highest percentages of new immigrants (my son is the only white English boy in his class). We have lots of grim private sector housing here in multiple occupancy. The government has made this type of housing a huge money spinner for unscrupulous landlords by loosening up legislation on rentals and making by to let extremely efficient for tax purposes. The percentage vote for UKIP in my ward was significantly lower than that of areas in the same borough with only a tiny fraction of the number of immigrants. Maybe because those of us who live in high immigration communities find it's actually quite tolerable.

A British national can't compete with a British national who has no children either... Except he or she will have to as someone on JSA isn't allowed to turn down work indefinitely.

What about the equal number of British people living abroad in Europe who will have to come home? 1 million Brits live in Spain alone. Can someone who voted UKIP explain why it would be a good idea to exchange mostly working immigrants for these returning Brits who would most likely be destitute if they can't quickly sell their foreign properties and be heavily reliant on services like the NHS, as many of them are elderly retirees?
