..with all the immigrants who've come to the UK over the past few years?

Given that I suspect you think there are far too many here and that they are a major cause of our current housing and jobs shortage?

Just asking! :-)

Please check your facts for goodness sakes mrsruffallo. Spain is the country with the second highest number of British immigrants after Australia. And those in Australia are mostly working while those in Spain are mostly economically inactive. There are about a million British immigrants in EU countries.

RazzleDazzleEm · 26/05/2014 19:10

Most Brits are emigrating to Australia, India and China. I can' find no evidence on the net of waves of Britons heading for Romania to share in their glorious standard of living

If not Brits, we are an Island slightly away its probably other western European nations flocking there.....

Immigration benefits all countries not just the rich western ones. As I siad, there must be immigration to these poorer countries from somewhere ...they need it more than we do.

And we need it.

Retropear · 26/05/2014 19:15

In your opinion.

Others don't agree.

mrsruffallo · 26/05/2014 19:18

They are facts. 425000 people in Latvia live o n less than 215 euros a month.

WickedWitchoftheNorthWest · 26/05/2014 19:19

I agree with you, Razzle, and so do the facts. Others hide behind their opinions and beliefs to justify their racism and xenophobia and need to blame others for their problems. But the fact is that freedom of movement within the EU is of huge benefit to this country and others.

Retropear · 26/05/2014 19:20

Of course all Euro sceptics are racist and xenophobic.Hmm

WickedWitchoftheNorthWest · 26/05/2014 19:21

What does your random fact have to do with anything, though, mrsruffallo? I'm talking about facts and evidence that support a specific position. I should have been more specific I suppose Grin

mrsruffallo · 26/05/2014 19:21

You have to pay a fee to see a GP in Latvia. And for inpatient/outpatient procedures in hospital.

WickedWitchoftheNorthWest · 26/05/2014 19:22

Retro are you able to explain using true proven facts, statistics and evidence why you are a euro sceptic then?

Retropear · 26/05/2014 19:25

Ditto

mrsruffallo · 26/05/2014 19:25

Women's rights are not that great either;Latvia is an example of a post-Soviet country which still struggles with some remnants of its communist past. Gender segregation is still an inherent part of the Latvian society today. Even though there has been progress in comparison to many other post-Soviet countries, there are still issues regarding women’s rights and the representation of women in government and business.

Victims are poorly informed about their rights and are reluctant to report rape or domestic violence. The police and the judiciary tend to ignore and underestimate the importance of reports on violence against women. Police are empowered to take action only after the victim or a witness files charges or if the perpetrator was caught in the act of committing the abuse. The corruption of state institutions also negatively contributes to an unfavorable climate.

WickedWitchoftheNorthWest · 26/05/2014 19:27

I have already retropear your turn.

No you haven't there are no details.

I suspect your million contains plenty of retired .The vast maj of youngsters and people in my generation won't have houses to sell or pensions to use to go and retire in the sun.

It has been reported that many people who emigrate to Europe come back as it isn't all it's cracked up to be.Spain has proved to be a disaster for many.

Others will be there for work. That could continue. We have successful work visa arrangements with non European countries all round the world.

RazzleDazzleEm · 26/05/2014 19:33

so thats latvia i am sure all the others are fine

WickedWitchoftheNorthWest · 26/05/2014 19:36

Retropear I did say that many of the 1 million are retired yes. Now seriously your turn you have posted no arguments in favour why UKIP? I just can't understand it!

Retropear · 26/05/2014 19:38

Sooooo many of this generation of retirees can retire in the sun. That benefits us and my dc how exactly?

TheFairyCaravan · 26/05/2014 19:39

mrsruffalo women's rights will be non-existent under UKIP. They want to make gender discrimination legal and scrap paid maternity leave!

caruthers · 26/05/2014 19:39

If Latvia is so fantastic how come they haven't attracted as many economic immigrants as we have?

WickedWitchoftheNorthWest · 26/05/2014 19:42

So basically it's jealousy that fuelled your vote, then? As I said earlier if those expats lose their right to remain you can expect them to come back and be a drain on he NHS and many of them will be destitute to boot. In the meantime the UK would lose all it's hardworking tax paying EU immigrants. That would benefit you how exactly? You still have explained your position beyond revealing your jealousy ...

RazzleDazzleEm · 26/05/2014 19:43
  1. its not fashionable - it soon will be.

  2. They will be attracting migrants...because they will need immigration more than we do.

we are already a rich western nation, tapped into the world. We need immigration - imagine how much more a poor landlocked EE country needs immigration...far far more than we do.

Thats the whole point of schenegan....it works both ways.

WickedWitchoftheNorthWest · 26/05/2014 19:43

And yes I. Am repeating and paraphrasing what I said earlier come on now retropear your turn why UKIP?

caruthers · 26/05/2014 19:43

WickedWitchoftheNorthWest

Nobody is being kicked out.

The hysteria is astounding.

Some interesting facts here - 2.2 million UK citizens living in EU countries - 400,000 are pensioners. There are even some living in Eastern Europe - albeit not many 6,000 in Poland for example!
