You know the people I'm talking about, always talking about "blue sky thinking".
Or instead of saying they need to contact someone they say "oh I need to reach out to Jeffrey"

Then you have the people who just take it too far and start using bastard buzz words outside of work. A friend mine told me "you know Frizz you really should reach out to A N Other, they'd really love to hear from you".

IT'S TALK FFS - not "reach out" they're not falling off Everest. Angry

So what's the most annoying bastard buzz words you've heard

Can I add people who source everything.

For some reason it makes me want to strangle them. (the reason being they are total arseholes)

buy it, find it, fetch it, get it but for the love of GOD stop sourcing it.

Morgause · 14/05/2014 12:31

Cohort. Ban it or death.

pianodoodle · 14/05/2014 12:33

HotSauceCommittee · 14/05/2014 12:33

You've just got to think outside the box, OP.

MrsSkilly · 14/05/2014 12:34

My boss uses 'fundamentally' in every other sentence. Drives me insane

ElloGuvnor · 14/05/2014 12:36

'Moving forward' and 'on the weekend' give me the rage.

ElloGuvnor · 14/05/2014 12:36

'On message' is also bollocks.

CogitoErgoSometimes · 14/05/2014 12:37

For me, it's whenever another poor little noun gets turned into a verb. 'Shall we workshop that?'

frizzcat · 14/05/2014 12:39

I just need to add I hate people who start a thread on mumsnet and then just for the fun, start the very same again ...... And then had to report themselves.
Yes, sadly I am that twonk

When I worked in Corporate-Land we used to play "buzz-word bingo" at meetings. It was the only thing that made them bearable.

I've noticed the "reaching out" crap too and it makes me unreasonbly angry as does any obviously American Corporate bollocks-speak

frizzcat · 14/05/2014 12:40

work shop that ah now I just feel nauseous

Neverwasacornflakegirl · 14/05/2014 12:41

Someone asked me if something was alright with 'myself' the other day.
As in - 'I'm just going to double check that if that's alright with yourself.'

What happened to you?!

frizzcat · 14/05/2014 12:42

buzz-word bingo. Yeah I remember playing it, I was quite good and modest too

Stepawayfromthezebras · 14/05/2014 12:43

It's when people use longer words than they need to that I get really irritated. The ones that make my teeth itch the most are 'prior to' instead of 'before'; 'utilise' instead of 'use'; 'purchase' instead of 'buy' and 'myself' instead of 'me'

Blib3 · 14/05/2014 12:44

I am getting wound up by everyone being interviewed on the radio at the moment starting their sentence with "So".

Q: What do you do for a living, Blib?
A: So, I'm a window cleaner.

NigellasDealer · 14/05/2014 12:45

it's a 'no-brainer' OP!

NigellasDealer · 14/05/2014 12:46

it has been 'evidenced' and I 'diarised' it

WorraLiberty · 14/05/2014 12:48

'Taking a power nap'

No you're not. You're just taking a fucking nap like everyone else Angry

treaclesoda · 14/05/2014 12:48

You should task someone with actioning that punishment OP

NigellasDealer · 14/05/2014 12:50

that is a big ask treaclesoda!

treaclesoda · 14/05/2014 12:51

It is a big ask, but I'm sure someone will step up to the plate.

If we can't task someone with it asap, we could always park it for a later date Wink

LilacRoses · 14/05/2014 12:51

BRILLIANT THREAD!! I love laughing about stuff like this.

Chocotrekkie · 14/05/2014 12:51

If you are planning that op you need a smart action plan to ensure adequate progress.

But make sure you put my name against the actions and not your own.

We will need regular update meetings. Smile

treaclesoda · 14/05/2014 12:54

It'll be a development opportunity. Or unpaid overtime, doing a job for which you will receive no recognition or acknowledgement, as it used to be called

TheHoundsBitch · 14/05/2014 12:56

"Gifting" things. Fuck off
