To hate and loathe "buzz words" and want the users to receive penal punishment

You know the people I'm talking about, always talking about "blue sky thinking".
Or instead of saying they need to contact someone they say "oh I need to reach out to Jeffrey"

Then you have the people who just take it too far and start using bastard buzz words outside of work. A friend mine told me "you know Frizz you really should reach out to A N Other, they'd really love to hear from you".

IT'S TALK FFS - not "reach out" they're not falling off Everest. Angry

So what's the most annoying bastard buzz words you've heard

Has anyone said task instead of ask yet?
Oh I'll task you to arrange a meeting with so and so.
WHY NOT JUST ASK ME

UncleT · 15/05/2014 23:51

Yes Bertie, penal is completely redundant in th title. It bugged the hell out of me too.

Mulberrystreet · 16/05/2014 00:09

Ooh have just remembered 'sense check'. Really gets my goat!

Mandy2003 · 16/05/2014 08:00

It should always be penal servitude I think, meaning a custodial sentence.

StealthPolarBear · 16/05/2014 08:30

I've just read "buzz me an email"
I get "ping you an email" AngryAngry

SwedishEdith · 16/05/2014 08:44

Ooo ooo ooo BBC Breakfast are going to talk about starting your sentences with So

funkypigeon · 16/05/2014 08:50

fecking facilitate grrrrr

FizzyFeet · 16/05/2014 08:53

Loving / hating all of these.

My pet hates:

Reaching out (makes you sound so needy)
Connecting
Engaging
Touching base

"Spaces" and "pieces" e.g. "the retail space" or "the change management piece".

"Leveraging assets" which basically means reusing photos.

I once worked with someone who kept going on about different "form factors". Took me a while to twig he meant smartphone, tablet, desktop PC.

I'd better stop now before my blood pressure reaches critical levels.

StealthPolarBear · 16/05/2014 08:54

so...that's good Edith

So,let's check out our mental larders. Interestingly, most linguistic trends come from young females. Except, I imagine, business buzzwords

Is anyone bothered about colleagues "being across" things? Oh yeah, "Charlie's across this or that task". Actually, it's been allocated to/dumped on poor fucking Charlie and she's doing her best to get it sorted for you. Fuck off with your "across" and shove it up your jumper!
