AIBU for being upset that my DH used "our phrase" on Facebook?

It's a phrase that we used when we had our first DC. A made up one. It's not something that I have ever heard anyone else use and we always said it in relation to our first DD.

Now one of his mates has had a baby and he put our phrase on the friends comments box under the photo of their baby.

I asked him why he'd done this..and he went mad as if I had picked on him for nothing. He said he never knew I'd be upset though he knew it was a phrase which had personal meaning and emotional attachment for me and for him.

I can't understand why he'd say that on stupid FB!! He barely comments on things usually!

AmbrosiaCreamedMice · 27/08/2012 23:05

NCForNow · 27/08/2012 23:05

Ok...I'm waiting for further comments...am taking it on board as I am sometimes apt to be weird.

BUT it was "Our thing" our in joke that we always said and still did sometimes about our DD....

Um, it could well be something farely commonly used, we cannot judge unless we know the phrase.

WorraLiberty · 27/08/2012 23:08

Hold the front page!

HE DID WHAAAAAT??? Shock

YABU - sorry Grin

NCForNow · 27/08/2012 23:08

Molly....if you're confused I will explain.

DH and I had a phrase..an "injoke" which described all of our personal feelings about our DD1...we used to say it whenever we felt particularly loving. Then he used it on someone elses baby pic on fucking FB!

OP posts:
NCForNow · 27/08/2012 23:08

No Mama...not commonly used at all I promise.

wishiwassingle · 27/08/2012 23:08

Did your DH divulge this phrase to his friend, and is that why you are angry?
Or is it a commonly used phrase?

WorraLiberty · 27/08/2012 23:09

Was it 'Squooshums'?

Pancakeflipper · 27/08/2012 23:09

Did he know it a phrase that was totally private or did you just expect him to guess that ?

puds11 · 27/08/2012 23:09

Are you really insecure in your relationship? Do you need to have a 'thing'?

I'm sure there will be other 'things' over the years.

NCForNow · 27/08/2012 23:09

WHY am I BU though?? WHY?? It is was a highly personal thing to us...something we used to say about DD1 and still did...not very often...only when we felt she was being especially gorgeous. She's 8. He's never said it about anyone elses baby till today!

I am voting for smoke me a kipper I'll be back for breakfast

AThingInYourLife · 27/08/2012 23:10

Apparently I can't read properly, because I seem to have got the idea that you are cross that your husband used a phrase about his friend's baby that he once used about yours.

And that can't be what you wrote, because it would make no sense at all.
