Its not for the child, its for the parent. Same reason I dont buy glittery pink princess tshirts for dd - because I dont like them

DD has a Ramones baby changing bag «goes on slartybartfasts hit list»

MrsKeithRichards · 29/07/2012 16:39

Who says they don't understand it?

I'd hazard a guess and say most grown ups don't understand their che t shirts!

slartybartfast · 29/07/2012 16:39

i will write gnocchi's name in my book

DD had a Metallica and a Zeplin vest, they were cool. And she loves to dance to metal :)

glenthebattleostrich · 29/07/2012 16:40

Sorry Led Zeppelin

MrsKeithRichards · 29/07/2012 16:40

My 6 year old likes led zep!

jimswifeinTokyo1964 · 29/07/2012 16:41

ds1 has t-shirts because he really likes the bands. He would also have had musical preferences at 5-6, but we had enough hand me downs to warrant buying any t shirts!

slartybartfast · 29/07/2012 16:41

ok, ok, but did your 6 year old like led zepp when they were 2 ?

Bit of fun and makes the parents happy. My daughter got given a Ramones babygro from her grandpa and I loved it. She'll either be proud when she's older or enjoy scorning me utterly for my taste in music. Grin For that matter she quite likes my records now, aged 2, and would be quite pleased if I explained she was wearing a Led Zeppelin shirt or whatever.

I'd probably keep the more extreme political stuff off 6 year olds (not that I think most people in Che T-shirts are as politically motivated as all that), but then my parents used to send me out plastered in eco warrior slogans and I rather liked it. It's not like you can really avoid shaping their opinions and tastes with your own.

jimswifeinTokyo1964 · 29/07/2012 16:42

Sorry, meant to say that he is 8 now.

jimswifeinTokyo1964 · 29/07/2012 16:43

I'd rahter see little kids in band t-shirts than in No Added Sugar tops with 'they beat me' etc on.

GnocchiNineDoors · 29/07/2012 16:45

Maybe its due to their being a lack of range of musically inspired baby clothes.

7mo dds favourite choon to bob along to is Cheryl Coles Call My Name - to my knowledge CC doesnt do baby clothes Sad

GnocchiNineDoors · 29/07/2012 16:45

there

usualsuspect · 29/07/2012 16:48

My 6 month old DGS was wearing a lovely Rolling Stones T, Shirt yesterday.

usualsuspect · 29/07/2012 16:48

random comma in that post.

thepeoplesprincess · 29/07/2012 16:50

YANBU. Makes the parents look like embarrassingly tryhard nobbers.

Panzee · 29/07/2012 16:52

My son had a Guns n Roses babygro. So ner. :o

MrsKeithRichards · 29/07/2012 16:53

I used to have to steal my dads band t shirts!

WithACherryOnTop · 29/07/2012 16:53

I don't mind children wearing band t-shirts,so long as there's no inappropriate imagery or words on them, but I hate political t-shirts on children.

Meglet · 29/07/2012 16:54

oh, I like them.

DS had a CBGB's babygro.

My kids love Led Zeppelin (DH &DSL influnence), wouldnt be bothered if they wanted to wear one of thier t-shirts. By the way they have been listening from birth.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 29/07/2012 16:59

We have the whole collection.
Rolling stones, the Doors, Motorhead, ACDC etc.

Why not? They are going to hear the music so why not wear the teeshirt. Of course its for the parents, but the parents chose all their kid's clothing.

most 6 month olds dont show a preference. Not even mine and they are all geniuses. Grin

AllYoursBabooshka · 29/07/2012 17:10

DS is 4 and loves Led Zeppelin. He also loves Jimi Hendrix, Depeche Mode and Lady GaGa. Why would you assume a 6 year old doesn't like a certain band?

Do you feel the same about football shirts?
