Don't pay a fortune for them, just buy normal white vests etc and get the transfers to iron on off eBay!

monkeyslut · 29/07/2012 18:21

Babooshka Thank you. But DD1's or DD2's?

Of course I think both are awesome/purty Grin

blueemerald · 29/07/2012 18:23

With Che Guevara shirts it always makes me wonder if a parent would put their child in a t shirt with any other mass murder on it. (I am left wing/liberal but if you research a little about it it's far darker than some people realise). However the irony of a Communist anti-colonial guerilla-fighter's face on mass-produced T-shirt is always good for a laugh.

AllYoursBabooshka · 29/07/2012 18:28

The purple haired, one eyed alien monkey.

I'm stumped on the second though!

bogeyface · 29/07/2012 18:29

DS has a tshirt that has the lyrics from "Friday, I'm in love" by the cure. Its my favourite tshirt of his and now he has outgrown it I am altering the neck line so DD can wear it :o

DesperatelySeekingSedatives · 29/07/2012 18:41

My DD didn't have any rock t shirts but did love Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Pink Floyd music as a baby. We used to have Comfortably Numb on repeat as it was the only thing that stopped her crying when her colic was really bad.

bogeyface · 29/07/2012 18:45

Desperately when dd3 wouldnt sleep as a baby ex would take her out in the car and play Fields of the Nephilim and she always fell asleep! She would never fall asleep in the car unless that was playing which was very useful on long journeys. Shame I was never keen on FotN, and she didnt like Nickelback :o

GnocchiNineDoors · 29/07/2012 19:42

But is she Turanga or Leela? Grin

Im stuck on the director one too.

carabos · 29/07/2012 19:43

I've never met a 6 yr old who didn't love Led Zep.

GingerWrath · 29/07/2012 19:53

My DD had a Metallica baby grow after we went to see them when she was 11 months...now she is 6 she wears her AC/DC, Download Festival, Metallica, Jack Skellington t-shirts with pride. In fact her birthday cake was pink and sparkly with a skull and cross bones on top.

And now she is 6 she chooses what to wear!

motherinferior · 29/07/2012 19:56

Dd2 is very fond of looking at pix of her toddler self in a 'This is what a feminist looks like' T-shirt.

nomorethan2thankyou · 29/07/2012 20:01

don't see any problem with band t-shirts but not so keen on ones with political slogans. i don't think many people like what i dress DD1 (aged 2.8) in. She is a very stubborn toddler who refuses to wear any tops that don't have minnie mouse, toy story, peppa pig and various other characters on. she also likes bright coloured tops with animals looking odd (her current favourite is a bright blue top with a dalmation wearing pink sparkly sunglasses on it, not bought by me!). i know some people who can't stand those type of clothes on children but i like to go with the option that gets her ready and out the house quicker! DD2 is 8 months, has no opinion, and she is always dressed very tastefully, that is until she gets food all over it!
if we had a boy DH would probably put him in loads of supe mario clothes Blush. don't think that's any better!

Snowboarder · 29/07/2012 20:10

I must be THE WORST type of 'tryhard' nobber then. DS1 (15 months) has the following band t-shirts:

  • Def Jam
  • Rolling Stones
  • Beatles
  • Jimi Hendrix
  • Stone Roses

He looks cool in them, so ner! DS2 (3 weeks) will wear them next summer too.

freddiefrog · 29/07/2012 20:23

My DD1 has a Guns N Roses Use Your Illusion tour t-shirt. It was mine from years ago but she found it in the loft and nicked it. She thinks it's cool, she likes some of their music too.

My DD2 was given a Rolling Stones t-shirt and she insists on wearing it as much as possible, but I think she just likes the sparkly lips to be honest

The only thing I don't like is deeply inappropriate slogan t-shirts, I once saw a young girl (around 5 or 6) in a red t-shirt with 'manteaser' written across the front in the style of malteasers writing.

I hate anything with 'babe' 'cheeky money' type stuff on, on my kids but I'm not fussed what other people choose

RubyRosie · 29/07/2012 20:34

I don't see a problem with it as long as the pictures/lyrics on the clothing isn't obscene, but then my child is usually dressed in clothes with disney princesses/hello kitty etc on them and doesn't own anything from boden so I am probably persona non grata as far as mumsnet fashion sense goes.

Pocketrocket11 · 29/07/2012 20:43

DS is 18 months and has a Beatles t-shirt and a Rolling Stones one. But I also make him wear skinny jeans and I'm currently looking for a leather jacket for him.

Oh, he also has a football kit.

You have to indoctrinate them early or else it doesn't work.

Empusa · 29/07/2012 20:44

I was just thinking this morning how easy it would be to turn a band t-shirt into an excellent vest for DS.. Grin

Mintyy · 29/07/2012 20:44

Yanbu. Think its utterly wnaky. I started a similar thread about it a year or two ago.

Pocketrocket11 · 29/07/2012 20:45

His name does have a slight connection to the Beatles though so I think it sorta makes it ok.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 29/07/2012 20:48

I think its utterly wanky to think its wanky.

Its a teeshirt.

With the name of a band on it that the parents like.

That is all.

Marne · 29/07/2012 20:51

My 6 year old would leve a led zeplin t-shirt Grin, i think little kids look quite trendy in them but i would not dress my 6 year old in one unless she had listened to the music/band (and liked it) first.
