surely it is a waste of money. and how does the toddler/6 year old even know or understand their t.shirt.

By that argument children should all wear plain white clothes until they are old enough to choose for theselves. Everything we put on our children is a reflection of our own likes and dislikes.

DS1 has a Tour de France t-shirt and a rowing t-shirt. He certainly didn't choose them himself.

AllYoursBabooshka · 29/07/2012 17:13

Kids can love certain from any age! :o

Kennyp · 29/07/2012 17:17

Best slogn t shirt i ever saw on a small person said "be grateful i,m not a twin" on it

If they are funny i like them, but daddys princess or mummys prince ones i dont like, unless you were s typographer and got your son a t shirt saying "mummy prints" on it. off at a tangent

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 29/07/2012 17:21

My DS looks like Jimi Hendrix Grin

And I managed to slip 'Hendrix' in at the register office. Its his 5th name.

monkeyslut · 29/07/2012 17:25

YABU

My now 6 year old loves ACDC. She has actively asked for the T-shirts (she has 2).

When she was a 3 she had a Pantera T-shirt. I got a lot of compliments and it was nice to know that there are people out there with good taste Grin

Better than a Playboy bunny or a fashion label IMHO.

And yes, when they are young (4 and under) it is for the parents. So what? I still wear band shirts. I am sure there are many that wear for example D&G or similar and kit their baby out in the same label.

No different.

Sirzy · 29/07/2012 17:29

As long as they aren't offensive or inapproatiate then I really couldn't care what people dress their children in.

I only buy clothes for DS that I like so why is that different to these t shirts?

AllYoursBabooshka · 29/07/2012 17:32

:o MrsD, that's vair cool.

DS is named after the lead singer of a Nu Metal band and an old Leeds United player (in honor of my Dad and Brother), slightly weird mix of names.

WithACherryOnTop · 29/07/2012 17:33

A definite no to football shirts.I can't stand them on young children.

leguminous · 29/07/2012 17:34

Indeed - if I truly let D dress herself (as evidenced one day this last week), she wears a trilby, a pair of neon orange shorts and one wellington boot. Everything she leaves the house in is to my taste and says far more about me then her. So as long as it's age-appropriate, I'm not going to worry unduly about imposing my whims on her.

AllYoursBabooshka · 29/07/2012 17:35

What if the child loves a the football team and wants to wear one?

WithACherryOnTop · 29/07/2012 17:36

That's fine, although I'm not fond of them on adults either, but I can't stand toddlers and babies wearing them.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 29/07/2012 17:38

allyours
Thank you.
My DCs names are generally despised on MN Grin

I have squeezed in a Lennon, Marley and Coltrane (the other DC's middle names) along the way and DD was named after Billie Holiday.

My 5 have 21 names between them. Shame I am not having any more. I never got to use Thelonious or Dylan Grin

Sirzy · 29/07/2012 17:43

My toddler (2.7) loves rugby and will often ask to wear his saints shirt - what's wrong with that?

SuePurblybilt · 29/07/2012 17:45

His FIFTH name? Are you Ma Larkin? Grin

I very much approve of Thelonious.

MothershipG · 29/07/2012 17:46

11 years ago when DS was one I made him a Che babygrow, it just amused me, what can I say? He looked cute, people thought it was cool/amusing, where's the harm?

Now he's old enough to have his own opinions he can choose, when he was 1 he didn't care what he was dribbling down. Smile

Oooooh! KennyP a typographer! I'm a type fan, I wish I'd been artstic enough to be a typographer, you lucky person!

JumpingThroughHoops · 29/07/2012 17:48

Same thing can be applied to any branded piece of clothing though. My personal dislike is football kits. Others will dislike Barbie/Bratz/Disney.

AllYoursBabooshka · 29/07/2012 17:49

Despised? Nonsense I think they are wonderful.

Nothing wrong with giving your child a little bit of your personality to keep with them forever. Children make their names their own anyway (if that makes sense).

plus they can always change it if they really hate it :o

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 29/07/2012 17:53

Ma Larkin! Grin

Hardly - I cant cook and look dreadful in a pinny!

I just like naming the kids. OH never gets a look in. He just nods and smiles, nods and smiles.....

monkeyslut · 29/07/2012 17:53

Too true Babooshka Grin

At risk of outing myself (due for a name change anyway) DD1 is named after a cartoon alien with purple hair and one eye. DD2 has the surname of a horror/superhero movie director.

It suits them now...

helloclitty · 29/07/2012 17:54

How do you know babies like giraffe's and tigers because they seem to crop up on everything?

monkeyslut · 29/07/2012 17:55

As in her name is the surname of the director.

hermionestranger · 29/07/2012 17:56

I'd rather a baby in a Ché t-shirt than mylenne klass crap. Wink

Ds1 and ds2 both had t-shirts that amused us. No harm done and now ds1 is old enough to pick his clothes singe choses what to wear. We had dribble factory tops. "I love boobies" and "mother sucker". They made me laugh and thu make ds1 laugh now he looks at pictures of himself as a baby.

AllYoursBabooshka · 29/07/2012 17:57

Oooh monkey, I know the name Wink.

Tis very purty.

cheesesarnie · 29/07/2012 17:59

ds2(6) loves david bowie and wears his ziggy stardust t shirt with pride, quick wash and then back on.

although you are right- at 4 months he did not know who che guevara was on his nappy nor at 6 months did he know who the sex pistols was on his tshirt.

he's currently getting into bob dylan.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 29/07/2012 18:01
