I keep putting classic 80s films on only to find out that she's never seen them! [bushock]

Today's film is the karate kid, a masterpiece and essential viewing for anyone of my generation. It's so good that they remade it for this generation to enjoy!

DW has also missed out on the gremlins films! They're brilliant, but she was tragically deprived of them for multiple Christmases [busad]

I think her parents acted cruelly and have denied her her heritage as a child of the 80s.

i was born in the 80's and i've never seen them

JustHecate · 06/04/2012 21:12

This is unthinkable.

Clearly she has lied to you about her age Grin

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 06/04/2012 21:12

What?!?

This is a worrying trend...

I was similarly deprived. Never seen ET either.

Dh finds it a source of much derision and laughter

SuePurblybiltFromChocolate · 06/04/2012 21:13

I've never seen it. Or the Godfathers. Or the entire Star Wars movies (I've seen bits). Never sat through a whole James Bond.

I don't feel deprived

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 06/04/2012 21:14

hecate good point! Must track down her birth certificate and look for tip-ex marks...

The 80s was shite, that makes films from the 80s shite as well.

Apart from Blade Runner, Spinal Tap and The Omen Wink

JollyRogerRabbit · 06/04/2012 21:14

I have seen karate kid. I have not watched gremlins, nor have I seen any of the muppets movies.

I wasn't born til 86 though, so that is possibly why I missed these films.

BlackOutTheSun · 06/04/2012 21:15

i've never seen any of the other films either

JustHecate · 06/04/2012 21:15

This will be it. She'll have been born in 1928.

Part her hair at the back and look for bulldog clips Grin

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 06/04/2012 21:15

Sue look deep in your heart of hearts and realise that its ok to cry Sad

DoUntoOtters · 06/04/2012 21:16

I've never watched Karate Kid or ET. Shock

What about the Ghostbusters films? I have seen them and it must have been the 80s from what I remember of the hair.

Chubfuddler · 06/04/2012 21:16

How can anyone over 25 not have seen the karate kid? Or part 2 which is even better? Or the gremlins? I am a bit shocked. You need to start an educational programme for her. Has she seen the lost boys? Ferris Buller? The goonies?

bronze · 06/04/2012 21:16

I havent seen most of the films other people consider classics. And believe me they're not as good if the first time you see them is the present. We didn't have a tv so didn't see all the kids program's talk about either

SuePurblybiltFromChocolate · 06/04/2012 21:17

It's OK. I've seen Gremlins and ET. And at least one Ghostbusters. I think I'll pull through.

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 06/04/2012 21:17

I remember ET before the cops had radios...

I watched The Goonies recently - great film

Snorted my way through Electric Dreams. Have no idea why we watched it over and over as kids (neighbours used to have a video shop!)

SunshineOutdoors · 06/04/2012 21:18

There's so many films I should have seen that I haven't. When I was a kid I didn't really watch films though.

I did have a friend who had never seen The Goonies though, that proper shocked me.

tyler80 · 06/04/2012 21:18

My boyfriend forced me to watch Star Wars when we first met, he couldn't believe I'd never seen any of them. I was unimpressed.

Never seen Gremlins, ET, Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing or the like which always seems to amaze some people.

I have however seen Karate Kid

FashionEaster · 06/04/2012 21:18

Wash on, wash off

[sigh]

SunshineOutdoors · 06/04/2012 21:19

X post about The Goonies

Chubfuddler · 06/04/2012 21:19

I let ds watch the goonies - he's five. Fortunately most of the language went over his head. I so didn't remember all the shit shit shit.

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 06/04/2012 21:20

She hasn't seen Ghostbusters either!

OP posts:
bronze · 06/04/2012 21:20

Surely is wax on and I haven't even seen it

tyler80 · 06/04/2012 21:20

I have seen the Lost Boys however, but managed to end up in Santa Cruz (where it's filmed) with 3 people who couldn't understand how excited I was to be on the boardwalk. I checked the back of the welcome to Santa Cruz sign too :-)
