I keep putting classic 80s films on only to find out that she's never seen them! [bushock]

Today's film is the karate kid, a masterpiece and essential viewing for anyone of my generation. It's so good that they remade it for this generation to enjoy!

DW has also missed out on the gremlins films! They're brilliant, but she was tragically deprived of them for multiple Christmases [busad]

I think her parents acted cruelly and have denied her her heritage as a child of the 80s.

Total Recall - one of my favourite Arnie films.

eleanorwish · 06/04/2012 23:26

I think I've seen every action film Arnie made in the 80's - Running Man

peeriebear · 06/04/2012 23:29

They are remaking Total Recall Angry just think up your own fucking ideas and stop remaking FFS!!

MagicPuzzle · 06/04/2012 23:30

Watched The Princess Bride in bed this morning with DD, she is 8. I love inflicting my favourite films on DD and DS, but really cannot remember quite so much shit, shit shitting in The Navigator.

peeriebear · 06/04/2012 23:30

And, another for the adult pile- Predator. Love it!

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 06/04/2012 23:31

Love rocky, but its 79 I think... Hmm, I'll allow because it's awesome!

All arnie films allowed until he started doing comedy.

was Jean claude van damme 80's or was he 90's? Used to love his cheesy action movies too.

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 06/04/2012 23:36

Erm... 90s? First one I saw was universal soldier. With the ears...

I have friends who had the princess bride 'mawwedge' speech as a reading at their wedding. I've never laughed during a ceremony before!

What a great idea. Grin

Jux · 06/04/2012 23:49

I have seen Leningrad Cowboys go America, and Spinal Tap. I'm not sure whether I've seen any other 80s films.

eleanorwish · 06/04/2012 23:51

He made lots more before that - just checked on imdb and Bloodsport, Cyborg and Kickboxer were in the 80's. Early 90s were Death Warrant, Double Impact and Hard Target, which I think were close enough to the 80s to count!

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 06/04/2012 23:58

Fantastic! Must search crap tv channels for jcvd!

we used to make bets on how they would explain his accent!

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 07/04/2012 00:06

Tv fail! Twenty something variations of channel 5 and not one of them is showing jcvd!

DH has never seen Stand by Me. I feel for the poor man!

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 07/04/2012 06:35

What about

Alien
Rambo
Mad Max
Footloose (crap!)
Flashdance
Dirty Harry
The year of living dangerously
The outsiders
Apocalypse now
.....

80's has the best films ever! I have seen all the ones mentioned before too, between 10 and 20 so a wide range of possibilities and thanks to free cinema passes from my dad's work!

ilikecandyandrunning · 07/04/2012 06:41

You lot who haven't seen great 80's films are missing out! Your loss...

I lurrrve 80's films

The breakfast club
Stand by me
The goonies
Mannequin
Pretty in pink (Andrew McCarthy!)
Some kind of wonderful
Electric Dreams
Say Anything (John Cusak! Mmm!)
The karate kid
Daryl
ET
Gremlins
All the cheesy Arnie films
All the cheesy Stallone films
All the star wars films

And so many more that will come to me all day now!

Oh and if you haven't seen the godfather films you really are missing out.

Iggly · 07/04/2012 06:41

YANBU

Leave the bastard!

I was born in 1981 and love every shit film going.

When was indiana jones made? Those were (and still are) classics to me.

ilikecandyandrunning · 07/04/2012 06:42

LeM... Ah yes footloose! Forgot about that, and flashdance

ilikecandyandrunning · 07/04/2012 06:44

And romancing the stone!
Yes to all the JCVD films too

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 07/04/2012 06:48

No to footloose! Just no! What a terrible and ridiculous film. Tractor chicken? Really?
And you do know that Kevin bacon had a 'foot double' for the dance sequences don't you?

ilikecandyandrunning · 07/04/2012 06:49

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 07/04/2012 06:52
