How often do you see a man you find physically attractive in real life?

Just wondering. I realised today how rare this was for me.

I find my husband attractive. Bizarrely more so simply by being out the house. I saw him in the park today and really fancied him, just as a man. Albeit one that happened to have our kids playing with him. I found myself watching and admiring his shoulders, profile and arse.

I also found myself thinking that outside DH I have only seen 3 instantly physically attractive men in 10 years. The screen seems full of them. Just wondering how attraction works for other people. Also whether seeing your OHs in a different setting makes them more attractive?

Other than that, rare as hens teeth.

Kiwiinkits · 21/12/2011 20:20

Like you I'm more physically attracted to my husband than 99.9% of men. I've seen one or two men in the last year that I've thought were cute, but DH is definitely one of the hottest guys I know. How lucky am I.

GeriManda · 21/12/2011 20:22

God, I see loads. Regularly. Think it's to do with being peri-menopausal. OH looks better when I catch sight of him unexpectedly - I surprise myself (pleasantly) that I still actively fancy him.

Feminine · 21/12/2011 20:23

thepeoplesprincess · 21/12/2011 20:26

All the time. I'm constantly gagging.

Sparklingbaubles · 21/12/2011 20:27

There's a very gorgeous teacher at DS's school. Blush

Gerimanda- "OH looks better when I catch sight of him unexpectedly - I surprise myself (pleasantly) that I still actively fancy him"

That is exactly how I feel. Bingo .

Also Bluddy mofo comment about how shocking it is to see a man who is physically perfect. It feels almost indecent. Jesse Spencer has this effect.

I know what you mean OP, there just don't seem to be that many really good looking men around. More annoyingly for me though, the one man that I have met recently who I think is really good looking and seems really lovely already has a long term girlfriend- gutted!!

Dozer · 21/12/2011 20:35

Bluddy disagree about jude law, saw him in RL in a lift and he was scrawny, pale and haggard-looking, maybe you saw him on a better day!

forehead · 21/12/2011 20:35

British men are not generally good looking anyway.

Dontsvetmuchforafatgirl · 21/12/2011 20:36

I was wondering why very physically attractive men are so rare?

Surely it would be a massive evolutionary advantage?
Or is it because other criteria carry equal or more weight, or because men have very few options to improve their appearance and are more dependent on sheer perfect raw material?
Or am I just picky?

I don't see many attractive men around as a rule. I do clearly remember seeing a guy who was so good-looking that I just stared at him like an idiot. It was by the riverside in Bristol probably 15 years ago. Afterwards DH told me I'd been staring at the actor Paul McGann.

Will have a good gaze at DH when he comes home later, to remind myself how gorgeous he is Xmas Smile

onelittlefish · 21/12/2011 20:38

Never - men are like an alien species to me nowadays, except for DH. He is different though. He knows me almost too well I think to be completely bowled over by him anymore.

Whatmeworry · 21/12/2011 20:38

I see my dp every day Grin. Other than that, rare as hens teeth.

thats is the "correct" answer. The "right" answer is a lot more IMO :)

minciepie · 21/12/2011 20:40

I find it depends on mood and time of the month. Must be a hormonal thing.

Some days I seem to focus on the good looking bits of people - this one has nice cheekbones, that one has lovely eyes, etc. So lots of people seem attractive. Other days everybody mings.

I also think it depends on where you live and work. I work in the City and the men there are generally slim and well turned out, which does tend to help increase the numbers who are potentially attractive (at least if you like the clean-shaven besuited look).

DH I find beautiful most of the time (luckily).

headinhands · 21/12/2011 20:44

It's obvious from the replies that attraction on purely physical sense depends on your availability and interest etc. I'm sure that neither me or DH are the types to elicit physical desire in anyone but to each other? Well, we may as well be Ange and Brad Wink

Megatron · 21/12/2011 20:48

Not very often. I sat beside Hugh Jackman on a flight from Oz about 4 years ago and he was so handsome it made me really uneasy. He also seemed to be completely unaware of how stunning he is and he was lovely and pleasant and normal. swoon He had the most perfect face I've ever seen and a smile that almost made me spontaneously combust. I'm afraid after staring at him for hours on end every other bugger looks like a dog now. Smile
