How often do you see a man you find physically attractive in real life?

Just wondering. I realised today how rare this was for me.

I find my husband attractive. Bizarrely more so simply by being out the house. I saw him in the park today and really fancied him, just as a man. Albeit one that happened to have our kids playing with him. I found myself watching and admiring his shoulders, profile and arse.

I also found myself thinking that outside DH I have only seen 3 instantly physically attractive men in 10 years. The screen seems full of them. Just wondering how attraction works for other people. Also whether seeing your OHs in a different setting makes them more attractive?

Colin Firth as Darcy - still get a deep thrill when I watch him in this role.

A doctor I saw in the corridor of a hospital this year when going for an ultrasound... I literally stopped dead in my tracks. In my hospital gown.

Bestest most gorgeous man? I saw this hunk of a man with ruffled brown hair, curls around the collar, deep blue eyes, stubbled chin, cute ass in his jeans, charming grin ... my DH Xmas Blush I honestly get tongue tied sometimes when we are out and look at him... when he's chatting away to someone... I get taken aback thinking 'he's mine, and coming home with me'.

He's cooking Christmas lunch too! Xmas Grin

I'm Blush to admit that I see loads of men whom I find physically attractive. This has only been relatively recent so I wonder if it's a hormonal thing. Have to admit, I have never particularly been physically attracted to DH - it was his personality which attracted me as he is wonderful and we get on so well. When we met, physical attractiveness was waaaay down on my list of what I was looking for in a partner. Yes, I sometimes wish I found him more physically attractive, or that he would take a bit more pride in his appearance, but none of the men I've ever met who are physically attractive have personalities to match. Give me beautiful on the inside anyday over a beautiful appearance with a really flawed character.

'Even after 20 years, I still think he's the most attractive man I have ever seen IRL, and if he's around other blokes just don't really register on radar. He can still make me blush like a teenager when he grins at me and mouths I love you across the room'

I ditto this LeQueen... although for us it's only 11 years!

LostVagueness · 22/12/2011 09:51

Essentially girls are prettier than boys. Either that or men have lower standards than women in this regard. Men can be attractive in a 'sturdy, rugged, strong, powerful kind of way while not being particularly pretty. I guess it's just the way of things. We are programmed to look for different things in a partner. It must be some kind of animal thing. Blokes are looking for hips, tits and other child bearing things, girls are looking for strong, virile and dependable. (perhaps)
Maybe there are just not many fit blokes around although it does strike me as suspicious that everyone on here seems to have a hot OH!

I have a symmetrical dh Grin
I can say that at least.
Obviously I find him attractive but I don't expect other people to Grin

MyBestBauble · 22/12/2011 09:57

Sometimes, if I am on the train, or a bus, or waiting in a public place, I look around and decide which of the men I would willingly sleep with Xmas Blush

I rarely see any good candidates!

FreudianSlipper · 22/12/2011 10:04

i am off to meet friends for lunch in soho so will no doubt see lots of beautifully groomed men that will be more interested in my beautiful friends than me :(

TheRealMrsHannigan · 22/12/2011 10:12

There is a very gorgeous and charming chef at work I have occasional nice day dreams about, it helps that he seems quite taken with me. Flattery works wonders with me ;)

Other than that, only my DH, I don't generally tend to look at other men in that way, it's like knowing I'm married 'that' part of me kind of shuts down?

I also dont go in too heavily on just physical attraction, I've only ever fancied men I've spoken to and gotten to know a little first as I find personality a big factor in attraction. DH has a friend who has women falling over themselves to date him, but he is arrogant, cocky and far too self absorbed and that makes him repugnant to me.

You know what? We should't have bought presents for our dhs.

We could print this thread, wrap it and put it under the tree.

Laquitar · 22/12/2011 10:24

LeQueen your dh looks like Spanish or Greek. (and you look lovely together)

I rarely notice any I like (think I must have unusual tastes, as I don't like many of the celebs most people fancy, either).

But then I went into Starbucks last week and they had THREE gorgeous specimens working behind the counter Xmas Shock

I feel a caffeine urge coming on... Xmas Grin

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 22/12/2011 10:37

I see attractive men all the time! I live in a part of town with quite a high
young-trendy-work-from-home-at-something-cool population, and also lots of young families, so maybe that helps. But out and about too I see at least a few men every day who I think are hot. Am I just permanently on heat? Grin

Laquitar · 22/12/2011 10:37

Ha ha ha as if you don't like your photos open Wink
Yes, it doesn't surprise me that he was taken for native.

FanjoForTheReindeerJumper · 22/12/2011 10:39

i am feeling a bit queasy reading this thread Xmas Wink

Or maybe i have DD's stomach bug!

Idratherbemuckingout · 22/12/2011 10:55

You should try living in Brittany. It is populated by trolls. Not a piece of eye candy evident anywhere! I put it down to long term inbreeding.

PippiLongBottom · 22/12/2011 11:11

My parents live in Brittany. ^^ Agree.

craftynclothy · 22/12/2011 11:12

I see loads but then I have odd taste. I don't go for what most women would think was attractive iykwim.

bigTillyMincepie · 22/12/2011 11:18

Apart from DH, of course, I see the odd one.

I think there's more eye-candy in London than Brittany Xmas Wink

StepAwayFromTheMincePies · 22/12/2011 11:21

know what you mean about seeing DH in a different setting, just swoon when my DH is in his work suit and on the odd occaision when our paths have crossed at work setting seeing him there not as my DH is a turn on Xmas Blush

Gonzo33 · 22/12/2011 11:26

My DH is in the Forces, and not even the uniform here does it for me anymore. My DH is damn sexy though, in or out of uniform Xmas Grin

LostVagueness · 22/12/2011 11:35

lequeen fair enough, I can't argue with that.
