How often do you see a man you find physically attractive in real life?

Just wondering. I realised today how rare this was for me.

I find my husband attractive. Bizarrely more so simply by being out the house. I saw him in the park today and really fancied him, just as a man. Albeit one that happened to have our kids playing with him. I found myself watching and admiring his shoulders, profile and arse.

I also found myself thinking that outside DH I have only seen 3 instantly physically attractive men in 10 years. The screen seems full of them. Just wondering how attraction works for other people. Also whether seeing your OHs in a different setting makes them more attractive?

Well actually after reading the thread that did remind me of the doc that confirmed I was pg in August after a blood test. He was lovely. He rang me with my results later that week and I went all squiffy on the phone. Thank god he couldn't see me.

Although I would always blame that on pg hormones obviously Xmas Wink

Oh hang on, what about accessories? My favourites are:

  • holding new-born baby
  • passable singing whilst accompanying self on a guitar
  • fire engine

Not many. Most men around here look like they just fell out of a skip and headed for the pub.

However a couple of years ago I had a patient in for regular burns dressings who was gorgeous. Intelligent, good looking, witty, polite and respectful. I had major fanny twongs every time I saw him and had to try really hard to stay professional and not lick him not dribble on him.

I saw a man in the supermarket a couple of weeks ago who wasn't conventionally handsome but made me do a double take and I kept staring at him as we crossed in the aisles. He exuded some sort of magnetism and confidence, he was just mesmerising.

I still find my DH really attractive and many of the men I find appealing resemble him in some way.

rootietootie · 21/12/2011 22:48

other than dp? not nearly often enough :)

SlackSally · 21/12/2011 22:58

Good god, constantly. Am happily in a LTR with my wonderful DP but I sometimes wonder if there's something wrong with me.

I find virtually all of my male friends attractive. Though I suppose this could be to do more with loving aspects of their personalities.

Maybe I just have really low standards.

nativitywreck · 21/12/2011 22:58

Rarely.
Although I did recently have the fire brigade over, and the two that came in were so fit that I thought someone had sent me a strippogram! We, ahem, walked them out to the fire engine so ds could see it and I could check out their back view and there were two more on the truck, equally chiselled and gorgeous.
Sadly, fireman are always married, because of being snapped up by quicker women than I.

nativitywreck · 21/12/2011 23:00

I think when I was in a relationship I fancied more men, but now I am single I never see anyone!

In the past year - just one.

But then I don't socialise and am only out the house to work.

Before that spent three years indoors sick.

runningwilde · 22/12/2011 06:12

I would love to see what men say in this kind of thread! I rarely see a guy who makes me doubletake. There are not many genuinely beautiful people about I don't think.

knittedbreast · 22/12/2011 08:19

i dont find typically attractive men attractive, that awful typical shiney american tv show look.

When im in spain or italy there is a certain look, and it loses its appeal.

its all about how they smell, not great looking but smell amazing and still well in with chance.

3wisemenandacameltoeinlycra · 22/12/2011 09:20

I don't tend to look at men much anymore, if I do, I focus on one detail rather than the whole. As my last full 'full up and down' survey landed me in court as a witness for the prosecution in an Armed Bank Robbery trial.

I spend 2 days in Clerkenwell last summer.
My god it was amazing, the men were so bloody well-dressed and took such good care of themselves.

In real life, I find men like that really unpleasant (I'm not very attractive and I can see them letting me know it, sigh, bad memories of a London meeja wedding a few years ago) but I can't deny it's pleasing to see good looking people looking good.

My attraction to all men is based on their personality so it is rare that I find someone attractive on sight. A couple of times I have been attracted to 'pretty boys' based on their looks but not often. And I am afraid 90% of the time they are arrogant pricks.

mrsjay · 22/12/2011 09:42

as somebody else said its rare as hens teeth to see an attractive man in RL , but i was on a bus a few years ago and this guy was on wearing a kilt and had long hair he took my breath away , I dont know why he was wearing a kilt (although i am in scotland) but it wasnt a weddingy suit or anything , but i melted as he sat there looking very wild and tousled Grin

I'm in Scotland and I see men wearing the kilt every day. Sometimes it's for work (eg doormen at hotels) but quite often it's just some bloke wearing a kilt and a rugged jumper. Bloody brilliant.
