How often do you see a man you find physically attractive in real life?

Just wondering. I realised today how rare this was for me.

I find my husband attractive. Bizarrely more so simply by being out the house. I saw him in the park today and really fancied him, just as a man. Albeit one that happened to have our kids playing with him. I found myself watching and admiring his shoulders, profile and arse.

I also found myself thinking that outside DH I have only seen 3 instantly physically attractive men in 10 years. The screen seems full of them. Just wondering how attraction works for other people. Also whether seeing your OHs in a different setting makes them more attractive?

I have quite specific tastes, having grown up in certain crowds. So I find traditionally annoying types attractive at first glance...arrogant rugby players, yachties in shorts and boots with peeling noses, the list could go on.

In reality, I could never fancy anyone who wasn't confident, I don't mean arrogant I mean quietly confident in themselves and their opinions. I like height too, it may sound shallow but having been considered tall when growing up I hate the feeling of towering over people. Luckily DH is 6'5", confident, and a great yachtsman. Wink

I see nice looking people all the time, but rarely anyone who makes me think "ooooh, if I were single...". I did however see a lovely looking man in the supermarket the other day, he had great dress sense, looked like he took care of himself etc. Was very polite and well spoken as we did the trolley dance, and he was very complimentary about my gorgeous DD...what more could a girl want!

Oh, and my anaethetist during DD's labour was hot in a precise, scientific looking way...but I may be biased as I did love him very much for all of an hour or so. I bet they get a whoooooole lot of marriage proposals!

I think for a fair comparison of male/female attractiveness you would need to look at women without their make up on. Most blokes are well aware of the almost magical transformation that can take place and have wished at one time or another that we could also get a helping hand when we're looking a bit rough! A good looking guy has to rely purely on nature for the raw material, and nature ain't always that generous to either sex!

sozzledchops · 22/12/2011 11:45

I know my husband was considered a catch and very attractive, I know many were surprised and thought I was punching way above my weight and some as much as said so Shock.

A friend of husbands is crazy good looking (IMO anyway), literally couldn't stop staring at him when I first met him and he's a lovely bloke too who unfortunately has had more than anyone's fair share of tragedy. I don't agree that beautiful guys are all arrogant and users who would look down on you for being less attractive - some will but others won't.

Don't really look much now but will look when I'm out and about and see what I can find. Not living in an area renowned for the beauty of the natives though.

I once saw Kelly from the Stereophonics and I was mesmerised at how perfect he was and what amazing skin he had. It even distracted me from the fact that he is only about 5ft tall.

DP is without doubt the most gorgeous man I know. I'm currently sahm with a baby and school age dc so my opportunities to ogle anyone are very limited and the blokes who do the school run are usually of the tracksuit bottom brigade.

DP frequently makes lots of my friends go all giggly when they meet him. I have one friend who just can't talk when he's around Grin

He's either in his work suit and looks very sexy and smart. Or in casual clothes (in particular a pair of trousers known as his cock pants) and looks like he is ready to climb tall mountains/ rescue kittens stuck in trees/ leap into action. Tho he usually just crashes on the sofa

dameednaspecs · 22/12/2011 12:09

I take the tube daily and work in a busy part of London, so I'd say I see some men I'd say were attractive, most days. But it's rare for me to see anyone I fancy.

I don't have a weakness for most stereotypical fanciable men (no actors, no men in uniform) but I do like very clever, geeky men. The cleverness often doesn't show itself though until a man starts talking, so sometimes I'll see a man doing a talk who's unremarkable physically, but when he starts explaining something I start paying more attention!

LePruneDeMaTante · 22/12/2011 12:31

Idratherbemucking out: we watched 3 series of Spiral, the French cop drama. The French men in it were mesmerizingly ugly. Beyond ugly. It was compelling. It got to be a joke with us after a while.

So I don't think it's only Brittany, not sure if that makes it better or worse tbh.

Grin le queen. They are truly obscene in a good way.

It's a good job I own The Contraception Dressing Gown (I look like a very hairy pink hippo in it ) or the cock pants would be responsible for DC5 and that's just not happening!Wink

Malificence · 22/12/2011 13:57

I have a hairy pink hippo dressing gown too, it doesn't faze DH, I've been pulled back into bed of a morning by the hem of it quite a few times. Grin
Usually when we've got to be up early for a flight or something Hmm

DH has an old pair of Lee jeans that fit him better than any other, I prefer him topless in them but a nice tight T shirt works almost as well.
He's got a head the size of a spacehopper today, his extremely pretty young physio has said he doesn't need any more treatment and that he can "get back to weight training", he's never lifed weights in his life
(unless you count pints of beer)! He does have very impressive pecs. Smile

This is turning into competitive husbandry

IdRatherBeInDrinkingMulledWine · 22/12/2011 14:08

I find my DH very attractive and sexy i can stare at him all day and night long, he looks at me some nights when im looking at him and rasies his eyebrows as if to say 'wtf are you looking at' haha But then there are times when i catch him looking at me lol.

Over the past year iv not seen many blokes where iv thought 'wow hes gorgeous' but id say round here my DH is the fittest of them all Wink

BuckBuckMcFate · 22/12/2011 14:11

Grin at all of us with our lovely DH/DP's.

My dressing gown was a Christmas present from DP's grandmother. I think she searched for the most hideous she could find to put a stop to her growing number of great grandchildren. Though she did also give me a pair of hold up stockings that yearHmm so maybe she was just being practical, it is very cold where we live.

Well, sometimes when I'm on the tube, to entertain myself, I look around the carriage and ask myself if I had to sleep with one man in the carriage, which would it be. I don't often see anyone even remotely attractive. Most often I end up thinking that actually I'd rather go for one of the women (and I'm straight).

Although once on the way to our work christmas party there was a man who looked like David Beckham on the tube. A seat came free next to him, and me and my colleagues FOUGHT to sit in that seat. Not one of us spoke to him though, we all just gazed longingly. He was beautiful.

greenmoo · 22/12/2011 14:32

I live near a university so lots of young, attractive types walking about in the day. What I don't get is how so many MNers are so lusty for their DHs/DPs. I feel kind of 'Meh' about mine and thought that was normal once you'd been together several years...

Malificence · 22/12/2011 14:41

I'm more hot for my DH now at 45 than I was when he was a buff 18 year old, his body hard and toned from 10 mile runs.
He stood at the top of the stairs naked this morning as I was leaving for work, I had to run up and lick his stomach. Smile
We've been together 28 years greenmoo.

OhdearNigel · 22/12/2011 14:45

I have only seen 2 men since I have been with DH that I have found attractive. DH is gorgeous

OhdearNigel · 22/12/2011 14:46

I agree with UC, I see many more attractive women than men

SunRaysthruClouds · 22/12/2011 15:18

ok so this thread tells me that either

  1. (assuming the sample above is representative) that most women fawn over their gorgeous husbands or
  2. only those who do decided to use this as an opportunity to boast not very stealthily.

which could it be...?

DartsAgain · 22/12/2011 16:23

My DP is not what you would call gorgeous, but he's attractive to me. It's more than just looks, though.

I do sometimes see men who I think are gorgeous, but it's rare I see the kind that has me catching my breath. Although, this year on holiday we went to one attraction, and the bloke on the door was soooooo attractive, I couldn't even look at him properly.

MrsBradleyCooper · 22/12/2011 16:51

Anyone else click on Malificence's photos and for a split second think that Mark Wright was her husband Hmm ?

MrsBradleyCooper · 22/12/2011 16:51

That's my DD with Mark wright! I'm flattered you would think I look like a 22 year old at 45 though. Wink
I did have a pic of DH on there but I took him off.

molly3478 · 22/12/2011 19:30

I always want to fuck/facy my DH, but so do all my mates and I love that to Wink See fit guys quite often to out and about but I have always had a very high sex drive so it makes you think about sex in most situations I find anyway!
