I have a bit of an addiction for Harry Potter fanfic stories Blush of the non-slash variety

I like potionsandsnitches.com especially but sometimes I venture out into the big wide world of fanfiction

and I have wondered for a while about stories which are adult rated and refer to "non-con" or "chan" sexual relationships between adults and underaged kids (HP and his friends, usually)

shurely these stories are illegal? You can't just write lurid fantasies about child abuse and rape and post them on the net, can you?

And if it isn't illegal, well it bloody well should be

OMG, LetThere, that's hilarious!

LetThereBeRock · 07/04/2011 20:29

I don't think that anyone,besides the author,is entirely sure,but I've read some fanfic,non HP,that's almost as awful,so I could easily believe that it's real.

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 07/04/2011 20:33

"My immortal", hadn't had the pleasure of that one, I think the Draco and the giant squid had more redeeming features.

SecretNutellaFix · 07/04/2011 20:35

Rock- I couldn't decipher half of the first paragraph.

One thing that I do find aggravating is when fics I am enjoying seem to get abandoned or not updated for months. I understand in the case of some that they have ongoing health issues, but there are others that don't seem to even make a footnote that it may not be updated for ages.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 07/04/2011 20:36

It sounds very like crackfic. Though how someone could write so many chapters as a joke, I'm not sure.

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 07/04/2011 20:41

I did think crackfic but I think if it's hard to maintain that level of awfulness, most crackfic writers admit it's crackfic to protect their reputation.

Glitterandglue · 07/04/2011 20:47

That's not crackfic, it's intentional badfic. Though sadly the line is sometimes rather blurry, I'm fairly sure that just about falls over the side into intentional.

I've just been reading random bits and pieces and quite like this: "?Draco are u okay?? I asked in a gothic voice."

BoobopTallullah · 07/04/2011 20:51

Think my eyes are bleeding after reading some of that.

mozette · 07/04/2011 20:53

ShowofHands I've no real preference of what type of fanfic I like - angsty, romance, horror, etc however I have not ventured out the Twilight section of ff.net. I may need to branch out from "nose pinching", "hair fisting" & "letting out a breath I didn't know I was holding"

So basically anything where Dean is a sex god will do me fine :)

mozette · 07/04/2011 20:55

although in the defense of the twilight section there are some truely fabulous writing in there!

SandStorm · 07/04/2011 20:59

Mozette - I'm a huge SPN fan and over at ffnet there's a lot of good stuff but also some pretty poor stuff. I'd suggest you head over to ungen where it's a little slower but full of quality fics. I've posted there in the past myself.

transferbalance · 07/04/2011 21:00

glitterandglue, The End of Alice was a horrible book

ShowOfHands · 07/04/2011 21:00

mozette, anything that has Dean as a sex God? That's about 98% of fandom. Are you after slash? Please don't tell me you're a potential Wincester?

SPN has its tropes too. Castiel's bloody trenchcoat, Sam's puppy dog eyes and Dean's wall punching to name but a few.

I like anything with Castiel being a bamf.

mozette · 07/04/2011 21:01

thanks sandstorm I'll bookmark that now. Is there anything that you would recommend? Any 'classic' SPN that is a must read?

mozette · 07/04/2011 21:02

showofhands not after slash however some Castiel/Dean might go down quite nicely fnarr fnarr

Tee2072 · 07/04/2011 21:09

if anyone is interested in Buffy the Vampire Slayer crossover fic, one of the best archives of any fic that I know is Twisting the Hellmouth.

It is one of the most readable archives along with having the option to join and mark fic as read or partially read and get notices via email when fics are updated. You do need to join to read higher rating fic, BTW.

Lots of Buffy/Supernatural.

EEEW to Wincest and Twincest! I have read some of both and just...no!

I do enjoy slash, myself, although I know it's not everyone's cup of tea.

LetThereBeRock · 07/04/2011 21:13

'I've just been reading random bits and pieces and quite like this: "?Draco are u okay?? I asked in a gothic voice'

Lol,I particuarly enjoyed that myself. It reminds me of a quote from one of the Sweet Valley books, that I found on a Sweet Valley blog that a Mumsnetter linked to.

'Her hair was swept back from her face except for a few carefully chosen tendrils, which curled forward, suggesting rumpled abandon. The effect was sultry and vaguely European'

WTF does 'vaguely European' hair look like? And that was actually published!

Glitterandglue · 07/04/2011 21:14

Sad thing about Castiel/Dean is it is 99% OOC. Castiel isn't a completely clueless idiot. Sure, he didn't get people when he first pitched up on earth but then humans are essentially unfathomable a lot of the time. He didn't stay like that, either, but there are so many fics where he's all, "Dean, my penis seems to have risen. It is uncomfortable." Y'know all, "I am 12 years old and what is this?"

Buuut if you just want PWP and don't care about fics being OOC then there is tons of Cas/Dean out there for you.

Actually, not recs but a good place if you want anything in particular - community.livejournal.com/spnstoryfinders

ShowOfHands, Wincest is excellent. Sometimes just stupidly hot, other times ridiculously angsty. It's got everything. Grin

ShowOfHands · 07/04/2011 21:15

I write Dean/Castiel, although my main story is technically a WIP. It is finished, but on my netbook and the screen's smashed. I need to work out how to get it off my netbook, onto the laptop and onto lj. I'm a bad non-updater. I should sort it out.

There's a good Dean/Cas community on lj here.

ShowOfHands · 07/04/2011 21:17

I can't bear Wincest. It's squicky. Dean/Cas is my otp, but generally only if it's ic. There is a lot of ooc crap. Cas is as old as dirt, he's not a naive schoolboy who is unaware of his vessel's capabilities.

LaWeasel · 07/04/2011 21:20

noooo to wincest! I know they're pretty but come on!

LaWeasel · 07/04/2011 21:21

I can't place Cas. Was it past season 3? I stopped watching.

SandStorm · 07/04/2011 21:22

He's an angel who appears in the fourth season. I could tell you more but that might spoil it for you :)

Glitterandglue · 07/04/2011 21:24

Oh, I agree Wincest is squicky. None of those relationships were ever even normal power wise within the confines of family, never mind adding sex. By which I mean John/anyone is gonna be massive power imbalance and Dean/Sam is because Dean basically brought Sam up. I think that's why I like it though! They are such brilliantly fucked up characters, I like to see what happens when you fuck them up a bit more, I guess.

(Disclaimer: It's fun in fiction. Not in reality. Fic is my Id's playground.)

Tee2072 · 07/04/2011 21:25

And hot. You forgot the part where Cas is hot. Hotter, IMHO, than Dean or Sam. Although they are also hot.

Also, I love the actor who plays Cas, Misha Collins, because he twitters really funny stuff and because he laughs at the Dean/Cas fanfiction. He thinks it's hysterical.

There is a story, I don't know if it's true, of a scene in an SG-1 episode where Jack and Daniel were to be in the locker room, at least shirtless. The actors strenuously objected due to feeding the slash flames.

That's the kind of thing, apparently, that Misha would encourage!
