Here are just three:

'Course you can Malcolm.' Vicks Sinex
'A Mars a day helps you work, rest and play'. Mars bars
'The chocolate and a half.' Cadbury's Dairy Milk

I remember the flake adverts were suggestive. Can;t remember any strap lines though.

TishToshByGosh · 17/09/2026 16:10

@BrezhnevsLuxuriantEyebrows I think Fudge bars were pretty much the size they are now. They were always promoted to be smaller than the average chocolate bar so not as much room for shrinkflation as with Mars Bars etc.

It shows how times have changed - imagine an advert now encouraging parents to feed their children a chocolate bar between meals! The whole campaign was based around 'it won't spoil their dinner'.

The current version of the bar only contains 98 calories (just looked it up) so in fairness it's not the worst 'treat' you could have in terms of being fattening.

There was one with Olivia Coleman sat in a car plus someone else saying 'Bev' and 'Kev'. Can't remember what it was advertising, so maybe not a good ad .

Mark Williams and wife eating a boring dinner and him saying as the punchline 'We wanna be together '. An ad for pensions i think.

'Walls Pork pie, really tasty all times of the day'. Shown in the ad breaks of TVam. Anyone else remember this?

Did that ad also have a punk saying 'I wanna be a brain surgeon.'? Think it was the red haired guy who is/was in Eastenders?

DozyCrow · 17/09/2026 16:37

Milky Way used to be advertised as "the sweet you can eat between meals without ruining your appetite ".

I’d like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony… think that went to number 1 in the charts on the back of that ad.

P-p-p-p-pick up a penguin, back when Penguin bars weren’t nasty.

“A last request, gringo…” - dodgy advert even then, but loved a Texan bar, back in the day.

I knew one of the singers on that coke advert, standing on an Italian hill if I remember correctly!

Minasama · 17/09/2026 16:49

rollypollly · 16/09/2026 17:04

TriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiooooooOOooooooOO. TRIIIIIOOOO. Chocolatey biscuit and a toffee flavour too.

Re-record not fade away. Tape what you want both night and day with Scotch's lifetime guarantee.

Do the shake and vac and put the freshness back.

They were filth!! Wasn't it something like "the flakiest, crumbliest milk chocolate in the world'?

ETA: I should have read the rest of the updates as Redheadedstepchild had already given the strapline!

And spread it on your bread in the morning.
