Two weeks of intense messaging then silence, what did I do wrong?

Hi all. Just need some unbiased advice! I’m 44 and met this guy who’s 38 a couple of weeks ago online. Initially it was lots of your gorgeous you’re a fitty and I said do you want to chat via WhatsApp. He said yes we swapped numbers then have basically chatted every day since for just over 2 weeks. Day 2 it was oh it would be better if you were here with me, we’d be up to no good etc, to be fair to him every day if he couldn’t text back until later on it he’d always text and say sorry for the delay just finished work etc.

I’ve had lots of “I’ve had such a long day need a bath and a massage from someone…could that someone be you and I can think of someone in particular that I’d like to be here - you. 🤯 so all going well. Now…radio silence. No even reading texts. I got one text yesterday morning and that’s been it.

what did I do wrong?

You are literally delivering yourself to a guy who couldn't be more blatant about the fact he only wants sex? I mean no shame, I met my husband and father to my kids as a tinder one off hookup 🫣 but I get the impression you don't just want a casual fuck you want a relationship

Yeah, you’re right about the relationship
bit

How desperate are you, OP?

Can’t reason with stupid/desperate. Waste of time asking for advice.

That’s a little harsh

I can almost guarantee you'll either

sleep with him and then be ghosted or

He will vanish off the face of the earth when you are nearby, then come back with some feeble excuse

Either way you'll feel crap don't do it to yourself.

Op he's after cheap thrills don't give them to him.

Jk987 · 28/09/2026 22:19

You’ve literally never met him. He’d probably give you the ick if you did.
I think the messages were too intense on both sides, nothing left to the imagination. Either way, next.

All this quoting of what he says to her makes me think this is a wind up! Nobody especially at age 44 could be that stupid

It isn’t

I can see why you may be bemused but in all honesty a group of strangers on the internet are never going to be able to answer that question. They can offer suggestions (and they will!) but if you don’t know, then it’s unlikely that a bunch of randomers is going to be much help!

Maybe he got the ick from something OP said? Who knows?

OP - if you hadn’t met him then surely you move on and forget him?

The only conclusion I can come up with is that your self esteem is incredibly low and you are clutching at straws craving that bit of attention.

The foundation of any relationship is respect and honesty and do you really (deep down) think that there’s potential there or are you happy to have (another) FWB who will use you?
