I've noticed that some boards are so much friendlier than others. What are the more hostile ones you've come across?

Feminism board

I can imagine that would be brutal 🙄. Royal fairly awful too.

AIBU, sometimes Chat. That’s often because posters set up threads with contentious premises.

Which one? There’s been two for ages, after MNHQ split FWR in two. Caused quite the kerfuffle.

Definitely the feminism board. I’ve been on mumsnet for 16 years on and off and AIBU, chat etc can be but are usually a mix with some aggressive posters mixed in, the feminism board puts me right off posting and I just think they are a punch of angry bandwagon people who refuse to see any other point of view that is not their hardcore own. Very off putting and will win no hearts or minds,

Feminism: sex and gender is the one I see pop up the most so probably that one but could equally be the other - I didn’t spot that they had split into two as I always come through active conversations

There are definitely some very aggressive posters who are just out to pick a fight as it were. They're not here for intelligent debate so I have learned simply to ignore them.

Aibu and anything trending that appears in active and you get the aibu type people there. Some people could row in an empty room.

I think the feminism board attracts people looking for a fight and I don't mean all of them are the feminist posters either.

I ignore too. Some people like to use every point of engagement as an opportunity to promote how superior they believe themselves to be.

I like to scroll past deliberately aggressive comments, and I wish everyone would. My heart sinks when poster after poster respond to them, especially if it’s the OP ignoring the nice, helpful replies in favour of giving headspace to WankyCloth666 posting ridiculous insults.

My partner is still trans. Their fury towards me achieved nothing.

Absolutely agree. Although I am pleased they have that space.

Superior? Yes, without a doubt. Particularly those who call others naive or rant about education.

The whole point of the Feminism: Chat board was to set up a place for people wanting to be able to have their niche away from Feminism: Sex & Gender Discussions, so please do try there. It might liven it up a bit!

Please dont. I have been on this site over 20 years now. I have stayed, despite changes, because I love reading thoughtful inciteful posts from women around the world. Some yes more challenging than others. I love AIBU and the feminism board. I have learned so much and hopefully contributed positively. Discussions of the issues that particularly affect women adversely need to be raised and raised loudly. And proudly. I will always be pleased to go to my grave as a woman that thought about and supported women and girls. That won't always mean I will agree with you, but I have a clear conscience.

Honest answer is Mumsnetters without children board.

The feminism, sex and gender board. There are no grey areas or nuance there. Rule number 1 is that all trans women are dangerous men. Anyone who suggests that that may not always be the case gets set upon.
