Happy to go first with Navy on a little boy. Not sure if they were going with the colour or a nautical theme but it kind of suits him actually. Also a little girl called Nala from the Lion King. My own legal name is a absolute clanger before anyone comes for me with the ‘sneery thread’ accusations 😂

I know someone (yes, of African origin) called Lovely.

So did I, but her surname was the same as a 'traditional' British old man's name - so the two together just made me think of some smarmy, creepy old fella whom you'd probably want to get away from as soon as he approached you.

No idea. Do I need to know who all these people are?

Of course you don't need to know who they are, does anyone need to know who any famous people are?

Velocity. Dad was in the RAF. I imagine she spent a lot of time saying “No, not Felicity…”

Not someone I actually met, but when researching my family history I came across an ancestor who had been named Armistice. (Yes, he was born in 1918!)

We had a neighbour called Truce. She was born on Armistice Day.

SimplyMaidSimplyTasty · 30/08/2026 22:26

One of my ex-colleagues had a son called Cosmo. I've never met anyone else with that name.

SinuousTendrils · 30/08/2026 22:27

Theone. As in The One.
Also in our local paper, there was an article about siblings Tyga and Phox.

BrickProblems · 30/08/2026 22:28

I’ve known people with children called Zillion, Buster and Apollo. Different people thankfully.

Old family friend had the first name Comet.

I work with children. The most unusual GIVEN name (not a nickname!) I've had is 'Bubblegum'.

You win, surely?!

I really think I do! I remember looking through a baby names book once, and reeling at the bizarre suggestions of 'Celery' and 'Delete'. Bubblegum is still the winner for me though, as far as 'Out there' goes!!

DominoLover51 · 30/08/2026 22:38

Does anyone remember a book from the late 80s called Comfort Herself, obviously the main character was called Comfort

MrsM2025 · 30/08/2026 22:41

I had a colleague - middle aged woman - called Blaze
She was as normal could be - I think of it as a hippy name - maybe her parents were!

Lobsterteapot · 30/08/2026 22:43

Dallas on a little boy from
Rotherham 🤷‍♀️

Bentley.

My dogs called Bentley

I know a Winsome, she's a lovely person and it really suits her.
One of my friends was in a maternity ward with a woman who named her baby son Guy. Unfortunately, she got it from a book rather than hearing it and pronounced it Gooey.

I'm sure someone in early Coronation Street had a husband whose name was Armistice. Ena Sharples or Minne Caldwell maybe.

Is Gooey not an urban myth??... I swear I've heard that one before!

I have only ever met one girl called Jenessa. My baby was newborn at the time so Jenessa would be about 50 years old give or take a year.
Love to know if anyone knows her!
