What is the hand signal the boys killed on A66 are making?

In the pictures that have been released, four out of five of them are making the same hand gesture. I feel very out of touch, but what is it?

I really hope it isn't true and am quite prepared to believe that, but the behaviour of people organising the balloon events and comments about them do make me wonder.

If someone contributes nothing to the world except causing pain and destruction to others, why wouldn't people celebrate their death?

I mourn the death of the innocent police officers. I also feel very sad for the 4 innocent people seriously injured in one of the other recent incidents (3 sisters and the child of one of the sisters, all on their way to the airport for a family wedding)>

I don't celebrate the deaths of the men in the Passat or rejoice in it because I'm not emotionally invested enough to have those strong feelings.

Using my head rather than my heart, I think it's a shame that young men's lives were wasted and that the potential they had as babies has been squandered. I also think that looking at the lives they were leading (crimes included racist elements and assaulting police officers as well as crimes against property) and at the trajectory which they were likely to follow, then their deaths are no great loss to society.

If I had the misfortune to live on one of the estates blighted by their behaviour, and was one of the many ordinary, decent people trying to get on my with life and to avoid being on the radar of criminal families, then maybe I would quietly feel that their deaths were a cause for celebration.

Well I imagine that very few of the pp’s in the thread expressing satisfaction at their deaths suffered at their hands, and I equally imagine those mounting their deaths felt they did contribute more than pain and destruction.

The police have arrested 12 people! One of them a 61yr woman on firearms charges!!

Seen so many tributes about the boys.

They really will be missed.

It's unfair to say police should have acted sooner re:recent arrests. My feeling is, with those 5 in the car was organised crime 'paraphernalia' and 5 phones giving the police a hell of a lot of evidence to build a picture of the web they were operating within.

They're sickening.

Well, it sounds like all this may be responsible for taking some of their associates out of commission. The wannabe gangster ethos is pernicious and for all the mawkish 'tributes', most of us are aware of the drug n gun culture that does nothing but corrupt some young boys (willing to be corrected but can't remember an incident where a stolen car full of girls was involved in stuff like this)

I'm not glad they're dead, I wish everything had been different including their upbringings and life choices but there has to be a point where this is treated as abhorrent. A family in Ireland all seriously injured including a 7 year old, 2 police officers dead. What is it going to take, a minibus full of kids going to school camp being hit? It could be any of us...any of us...affected by this behaviour.

What is it going to take? Them crashing into someone like Charles and Camilla.

A local dog waste bin has a picture of them doing their hand salute on it saying “ Thank you for your donation from your dog. towards the five dogs from Middlesbrough.

Apparently there's been an arson attack related to this with a woman and a little girl killed. It's a total can of worms.
