In the pictures that have been released, four out of five of them are making the same hand gesture. I feel very out of touch, but what is it?

I strongly suspect the poster doesn’t have experience of being the family of a police officer killed in a high speed chase.

not sure how that fits the definition of reckless.

on the other hand I work with a person who lost their child to a notorious murderer and notorious incident and they have been clear in the many talks they’ve given that the murderer isn’t of any interest to them.

I have no idea what the family of the thugs are likely to do. I do know they didn't parent properly and they now think killing or injuring innocent animals by having balloon releases is a good way thing to do. Shows brains are not their strong point nor is caring about other humans or animals

Where were the balloon releases? Have only seen balloons tied to a lamppost. I hate balloon releases tbh, but to pretend it’s only a certain class who does it is bonkers. It’s widespread and bloody awful.

They’d already tragically wasted their lives- and were busy making other people miserable.

“The Telegraph can reveal that Worthy, Saddington, Matusiak and Rae had each pleaded guilty to multiple offences in the three years before the crash. Only Cahill did not have prior convictions.
Worthy, Saddington and Rae had all pleaded guilty to separate offences of assaulting a police officer, while Matusiak had pleaded guilty to one count of driving without a licence and another of driving without insurance in March this year.
Rae had 12 shoplifting offences between October 2023 and May 2024, as well as one theft of a vehicle, three thefts from a vehicle, two offences of aggravated vehicle taking and one offence of cannabis possession.
Saddington had pleaded guilty to possessing a Class C drug and also possessing a knife in a public place, both in May 2025, as well as four offences of assaulting a police officer and one of racially aggravated intentional harassment.
Worthy had pleaded guilty to four driving offences in June. He had also pleaded guilty to using abusive language in 2024 and failing to surrender to custody in 2025.

I read somewhere (if on here, apologies for not quoting) that as well as the balloon release, a 'drive by at speed" has also been requested for one of them as some sort of mark of 'respect'. If this is true, I really hope the police have roadblocks up in the vicinity and stingers ready. The people organising these events are showing a crass disregard for the families of the innocent policemen who were killed, by behaving like this was an ordinary RTA or death from tragic illness, rather than from self chosen criminality.

I imagine these 'celebrations' will be very closely monitored, anyway, with or without the 'drive by'.

Whatever those boys were up to, they’re someone’s child and their loved ones will grieve whether you think their lives were worth something or not. And yes I imagine shame will be part of that, which can also drive public tributes because they’ll want people to see them as more than their ending.

Why did it take a tragedy happening for the police to start arresting people? They clearly had intelligence on these people beforehand. If they had carried out the arrests sooner this tragedy would not have happened.

IMO the police should be pro-active instead of re-active.

Having seen more of the pictures now, it's not the gesture I was thinking of as in the surfer post further up. The gangsta/gun gesture they used is grim, as are the criminal records of some of them that have been revealed today. The world is a bit shit right now isn't it?

Their world is that. Gangsta life. A drive by at speed tells you enough about the the people involved.

Idiotic if true but of course could also be entirely made up.

I haven’t seen anyone defend them, but some of us can hold two things in our brain at once. Their actions and choices were reckless and awful, people taking satisfaction in their death is also awful. I don’t believe anyone who is happy in their own life would feel satisfaction at the death of someone else unless they are a little way down the psychopathy road.
