What is the hand signal the boys killed on A66 are making?

In the pictures that have been released, four out of five of them are making the same hand gesture. I feel very out of touch, but what is it?

You are correct, but I have been in a situation ( long long before SM) where my 10 year old child got into a car with his friends older brother who was picking friend up from school . The teen then thought it was amusing to speed and then do emergency stops. My son was extremely upset on arriving home but learnt a valuable lesson . I’m putting myself into a position that if that incident had ended tragically would my son of been called some of the names on this thread ?

Wasn’t out at 3:30am though was he.

I find this such a bizarre but also quite fascinating attitude. Like.. what’s the point in your vocalising it? Does it make you feel good? Why do you say things like that?

Because its true and it doesn't make me feel good. It makes me bloody furious that these stupid kids deliberately set out to cause carnage. They are murderers.

Yes it makes me feel slightly good because I am furious that yet another group of scummy shits have injured or murdered innocent people and that some posters see fit to make excuses for them.

Why do you care what complete strangers think about a car crash that doesn’t have anything to do with you? I think it’s far more likely you’re getting worked up for your own needs, not on behalf of the victims. You’re getting something out of it

they’re dead. Dead people can’t be murderers. The language you’re using, the aggression… it’s just really weird

I care because 2 police officers were murdered by 5 ignorant shits. A few days ago 3 women and a young child were badly injured by another lot of ignorant shits. Everyone should be angry about it.

If you think I am upset and angry because of my own needs then you are pathetic and sick.

I am getting nothing "out of it" as you so stupidly put it but anger and sadness.

The bbc website now has a photo of PC Tom Clough, one of the officers who was killed.

He's holding a duckling and there's such a contrast between his tough guy uniform and his lovely, natural smile.

Completely different from the photos of the yobs who were killed.

Dead people can't be murderers? Well they certainly can't murder any more people if that's what you mean. And thank goodness for that.

No I mean they can’t be. How could 5 men in a car who were dead before or at the same time as the 2 police officers have murdered them?

or does no one understand what murder is?

I agree that it doesn't fit the legal definition of murder but 2 innocent men are dead because of their actions.

Would you be happy if we called them killers instead of murderers?

Would you be less happy to call them
killers because it doesn’t sound as melodramatic?

Won't be long till the loveable rogues bit starts..then the obligatory balloon release..fly high and other assorted crap.🤮

EppingIsFun · 23/08/2026 19:30

Only one boy/man was driving that car. God knows what was running through the minds of the others, but they didn't have a lot of choice once he turned onto the motorway the wrong way.

People here calling them all 'scum' are just ridiculous grief/anger vultures. Had any of you met any of them? Unless you are a family member of one of the police officers involved (RIP), dial it down.

I can't be bothered to go back and search all my posts but, from memory, I've called them teenagers, young men, yobs and killers. I don't think I've used the word murderer myself but, as we're not in a court of law, I'm quite happy for other people to use that word.

Innocent people were killed because of their reckless behaviour. The police chase which was called off shortly before the crash was as a result of a number of reported incidents. It's extremely likely that they were the type of people whose anti-social behaviour makes life almost intolerable for the people living in the neighbourhoods who have to endure it.

I do wonder how many of the posters who object to some of harsh language on this thread live in naice parts of the country were they don't have to put up with yobbish behaviour on a daily basis.

I don’t object to the language at all. I object to the moral grandstanding of these posts

Being “the harshest” is a way to publicly prove their own righteousness. The point isn’t really the target, its status and self satisfaction.

And the rest couldn’t stop him? And that’s Something that played out in multiple crashes? Seems unlikely

Have you ever been in a vehicle where someone does something very dangerous? Ever succeeded in stopping them? We’ll never know wha my happened in the vehicle but it’s entirely possible that the driver made the fatal decision without any encouragement, and none of them would have been able to stop him. A stupid decision but his family will now have complicated grief to wade through, in full glare of the community and media. Wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

Maybe take a look at yourself if anything about this situation makes you ‘feel slightly good’. How depressing your own life must be that you take any satisfaction in the needless deaths of 7 boys and men.

I was responding to the idea that the number of recent fatal accidents caused by young men driving dangerously crashes were caused by the driver in a psychosis

I know, it just made me think of two friends of mine who was in a similar position as the passengers (ie at the whim of a dangerous driver). Fortunately they didn’t die, though one has died since. Both of them were vilified for even being in the car but there was nothing they could have done to stop what happened.

I don't need to take a look at myself thank you. I am sick of people defending these thugs.

The needless death of 2 police officers is awful. The death of the 5 thugs is not. If you don't agree fine but most people do agree. I do take satisfaction that 5 thugs are now no longer able to commit crimes, cause people fear and stress and, even more importantly, no longer able to injure or kill totally innocent people.

My life is far from depressing
