What is the hand signal the boys killed on A66 are making?

In the pictures that have been released, four out of five of them are making the same hand gesture. I feel very out of touch, but what is it?

It means "i'm a fucking idiot who has no thought for others so keep this photo cos you won't be taking any more". Absolutely no sympathy for them or their families and all the sympathy in the world for the men who died and their colleagues who had to deal with this and especially their families. This country is well and truly fucked up.

It’s not devil horns, or rock symbol and definitely not I love you. It’s scummy chavs thinking they are “gangsta”, trying to emulate gang culture that comes from America. Kids in my school do it, it’s always “those ones” , the ones I’m glad my teen doesn’t hang around with.

Exactly. How do we know the background of all these boys . Supposing it was a little brother taken out with them who had no involvement in the driving etc .

She didn’t say they are cool. She said to ‘look cool’ inferring that they themselves believed it made them look cool. Gosh she’s just answering a question her Mum asked her. She isn’t personally responsible!

These boys didn't become like this by accident or despite their parents' best efforts. They were raised this way or left to their own devices from a young age, or probably both.

Exactly! I saw the tributes for the teenagers in Ireland were taken down as people were making comments about how horrible they were. Which was true to be fair.

I am really not. I don't know what it means. I'm interested to know, but I have no idea if it's a positive thing or not. In fact, I'd assumed it must be more positive than it looked because of the way all the families chose those photos to release.

It is NOT the Shaka sign. I live around surf culture (Cornwall) and a lot of my friends are surfers - it’s often done a bit tongue in cheek but its definitely not the same. Shaka is pinky and thumb, they have forefinger out and all sorts.

This is the second set of young men / children in less than a month.
