Questions about the recent arrivals in Spain and what happens next

I have some questions..
And I wondered if people knew any answers
Where have all the sudden visitors to Spain come from..
They must of been gathering somewhere,
did no one spot them gathering .
They seem to be all men ,
why Spain ,
Are they Hoping to live there
So this must of been a coordinated effort,
who planned it ..
Will Spain keep them and house them ?
Will they bring their families over
Is it a wind up ..are they all heading home eventually
It's very odd
What is Spain going to do ..will they let them stay like the others .
Spain has a left government?? So they don't mind ?

I give up

RoseField1 · 01/08/2026 18:28

Do you know where Ceuta is?

EarthlyNightshade · 01/08/2026 18:29

Not sure. Can you give the exact location in Spain that you are talking about?

Do you know where Ceuta is?

Spanish city located on North coast of Africa

Have you in any way read any actual information about what is happening in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta?

Lunde · 01/08/2026 18:32

Well mostly it looks like the Spanish authorities are rounding them up and sending them back over the border into Morocco

You realize we are not talking about mainland Spain? - but a small Spanish owned enclave that is actually in Africa and shares a border with Morocco. A bit like if Spain "stormed" Britain by entering Gibraltar

Lankylegs3 · 01/08/2026 18:33

Just looking up info

I do realize that ,but only because I've just .looked it up

They go back to Morocco. They won’t be allowed to go to the Spanish mainland

LIZS · 01/08/2026 18:35

Apparently it was organised via social media suggesting that the border would be open.

Lankylegs3 · 01/08/2026 18:37

Ok ,so they are not wanting to live there ,it just seems so odd

It's geopolitics.

greencatwitch · 01/08/2026 18:39

Not another thread on this...

-They are being sent back
-This was did not happen in the Spanish mainland
-They were never about to travel further and 'invade' the UK
-Farage and Braverman as usual have tried to inflame the situation rather than sticking to facts.

Octavia64 · 01/08/2026 18:40

Ceuta is a small town on the African coast that belongs to Spain.

in the same way that Gibraltar is a small town on the Spanish coast that belongs to Britain.

Ceuta is surrounded by Morocco at all point except the sea.

the only way from Ceuta to mainland Spain is by ferry or airport.

the Spanish do not want the Moroccans in Spain. They are not getting to mainland Spain (you need a passport for flight or ferry and the Moroccans do not have one).

the Moroccans are being returned to Morocco.

at no point did they leave Africa

I found this explanatory article in the Guardian quite helpful - it also explains the politics behind it

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/jul/31/ceuta-spain-eu-border-africa

Thankyou ,that was really helpful, I didn't know any of that

Why do the Spanish not want moroccans in Spain..but they don't mind them in ceuta ?
So did they take over ceuta at some point in history and it wasn't Spain's to take

They do mind them being in Ceuta. That's why they are returning them.
Ceuta is an enclave. It was kept when Spain left Morocco.

What is your point here? Ceuta is legally and constitutionally part of Spain. Ceuta is an official border of the EU and is protected by EU laws and Frontex.

Pearl Harbour is in the middle of the pacific ocean - do you think the US was wrong to defend its overseas territory in 1941? Japan targeted Hawaii specifically because it was the US military gateway to the Pacific. Leaving it undefended would have allowed adversaries to move closer to the American mainland.

Ceuta represents the official external border of the European Union. If Spain allows its borders here to be compromised or ignored, it effectively opens a direct, unchecked gateway into mainland Europe.

Backedoffhackedoff · 01/08/2026 18:48

I mean. It was very easy for you go spend 5 mins researching this. Seems like you were just after some migrant bashing?

How? How can they get from Ceuta to mainland Spain?

A migrant is a person who has moved from one place to another. I would say they’re migrants. Not sure what else they’d be?

Ok,some questions - a typical reform tactic.

So - some questions for you...

What do you want to happen to these peopl?

Why do you think these people have risked so much to come to Europe?
