Questions about the recent arrivals in Spain and what happens next

Lankylegs3 · 01/08/2026 18:27

I have some questions..
And I wondered if people knew any answers
Where have all the sudden visitors to Spain come from..
They must of been gathering somewhere,
did no one spot them gathering .
They seem to be all men ,
why Spain ,
Are they Hoping to live there
So this must of been a coordinated effort,
who planned it ..
Will Spain keep them and house them ?
Will they bring their families over
Is it a wind up ..are they all heading home eventually
It's very odd
What is Spain going to do ..will they let them stay like the others .
Spain has a left government?? So they don't mind ?

Yes but the actual powers that be in the EU think it's a massive deal and ...the telegraph has reported that is has had an impact on our illegal immigration by boat !

Edited

How will it have an impact on people going by boat from France to the UK?

Read the telegraph article

Why don’t you explain in your own words how people who have gone to a Spanish city on the African continent and who mostly have returned home, is going to now impact boat crossings?

Looks like an orchestrated political move to undermine Spain as it stands up to Trump

I mean, if you ‘have some questions’ you could have just read the coverage in the many reputable news outlets that have explained this issue in detail.

thislittlestarhere · 02/08/2026 11:36

Nigel probably organised it so they’ll arrive in Clacton a day before the by election.

likelysuspect · 02/08/2026 11:36

Its very much a political action, not really an asylum seeking action

But thats why the EU is concerned, having its borders breached as a way to simply make trouble in world politics.

We have an open border with the EU by way of Northern Ireland.

… Genuinely.

My hair is brown. I had friends at school, some of whom I still have now.

Any further weird questions, your honour?

It’s just hard to believe and doesn’t fit. Usually when someone takes the time to write 20 posts saying they don’t care about something , it’s because they do care…people who don’t care don’t take the time to write comments. When it comes to anything relating to immigration, these people generally fall into three camps: Performative left wing types, public sector/no job, no children and crave attention, want to simply call people racist or look down on someone one for self esteem issues or basically because they’re bored. Angry and captured by left wing doctrine types, usually single and again childless, had struggles at school on benefits and looking for someone to blame so latch onto any cause ti vent their anger. Actual people who believe in open borders, usually as some collective punishment for Europe, again these people will have no skin in the game, no children etc.

You don’t seem to fit into any group, you have a child, you have a non public sector job, you aren’t a Marxist, you seem to be around average intelligence and were able to have friends at school . You’re a puzzle @SleeplessInWherever

Gealach · 02/08/2026 11:53

@Batrat your posts have gone a bit odd! Maybe you have very limited life experience. People tend not to fit in neat little boxes.

It’s because all the boat crossings breach the EU border at some point so a massive failure like this is a concern, that route is a known route for north and west African illegal immigration and because nobody actually knew how many people crossed, who they are or what their intentions were.

Those pro mass and illegal immigration nearly always do though, obviously there’s the odd exception I.e. mental illness, disingenuous posts etc but as a general rule you’ll see they all fit the pattern I outlined.

“Coming to Europe”?

When does it arrive?

Last I checked my area already had at least some Muslims, and I’m definitely not oppressed by any of them.

Our finance manager is Muslim. He just pays my wages, looks after invoicing, reconciles stuff, goes home to his wife and kids. I don’t think when I start work on Monday he’s going to suddenly yell the Quran at me.

Honestly. The hysteria.

And this is the problem. The only Muslims some people have met are Finance Managers, Solicitors, Systems Analysts, Project Managers etc. People they meet in their professional lives who have liberal attitudes to women's rights and homosexuality.

Yes but surely even if they have no compassion for people affected , they’d at least understand the liquid rule on planes or why there are massive concrete blocks on London Bridge and other landmarks . You’d have to be deliberately ignoring facts to to not see any problem what so ever.

To be clear, he doesn’t have liberal views.

He’s not an extremist by any measure, but he also has a non-working wife who he considers himself fully responsible for, their marriage isn’t arranged but he did pay a dowry of sorts, and when once asked what he’d done if his daughter was gay he said “well as far as we’re concerned, she can’t possibly be.”

He doesn’t force his religion or views on people, doesn’t treat the women he works with any differently, and I’m not his wife.

He respects our right to live our lives, we respect his - the end.

Who is pro-mass illegal immigration? I don't think I've seen anyone on this thread propose opening the borders, or even stating that what happened in Cetua was fine and dandy, just that it is not a risk to GB and that Spain and the EU are managing the situation, so the hysteria is unnecessary.

I'm not pro-illegal immigration; I just understand that illegal immigration is complex and should be dealt with humanely, safely, and with nuance.

I'm aware of the issues with hotels housing large numbers of immigrants; I'm also not blinkered enough to believe this is only because of cultural or religious beliefs. If you took a large group of disenfranchised young white men and shoved them in a hotel with less than £50 a week to feed and clothe themselves and no opportunity to find work for an indefinite length of time, the same issues would occur. That doesn't mean we should tolerate these young men behaving in this way; we need a better system than abandoning them in hotels for months on end. Those who do commit crimes should be punished in accordance with UK law.

I'm aware there is a small subset of muslim men who would like to bring problematic aspects of their culture to Western Europe. I'm also educated enough to know this will never be tolerated. Sharia law is not and never will come to the UK. I'm also aware that most muslims do not want this; the reason they come to Western Europe is to escape these types of regimes.

My experience of the small muslim population we have locally is that they are charitable, generous and respectful of local culture despite the shocking level of misinformation thrown at them (looking at my mother, who is 100% convinced the government has given her Afghan neighbours a free BMW). Our local Mosque does more for this town than all the CofE and Catholic churches put together. Whether you are white, brown, black or yellow with purple polka dots, if you go to the Mosque in need, they will help you.

NB: My mother's Afghan neighbour works for a large IT firm; his salary paid for his BMW.

The vast majority of crossers to Ceuta are Moroccan. They don’t have a direct way to move off Ceuta …it doesn’t have free movement to mainland Europe. The approval rate for Morrocan asylum seekers is also extremely low. The vast majority of people who cross from France to the UK are from different countries and take a different route to the EU.

It’s not strictly true that we don’t know who they are now with the new migration pact and it’s biometric tracking.

Like someone said - this is a political event - not an asylum seeking event.

Hard left wing groups are, the Green Party are and have it in their manifesto. As for posters, there seems to be plenty claiming it’s fine and nothing to worry about as well as trying the usual tricks to stop it being discussed. Do you ever question why?

I’m not sure why you wrote the rest of that.

It is strictly true we don’t know who they are, we don’t even know how many it was. From my observations they didn’t form an orderly queue to have biometric scans done, maybe you have more information than me.

no, I’m not talking about these ones, because I thought we had accepted that the majority had returned home and there would be no secondary impact on boat crossings to the UK from this event. So I’m not sure if it matters who they individually are.

I think it’s more important to discover who triggered it and why.

The Green Party manifesto doesn’t have anything about open borders.

It talks about a fair and humane system of managed immigration.

Which isn’t proposing open borders at all.

Why do the Spanish not want moroccans in Spain..but they don't mind them in ceuta ?
So did they take over ceuta at some point in history and it wasn't Spain's to take

They do mind them in Ceuta.
Honestly OP, I really suggest next time you want to start a thread about an international event, try reading more around the subject before posting...

I'm finding the stance from some posters re " nothing to see here " very strange when the powers that be in the EU have been outraged by all this !

The powers that be aren't outraged at the thought that these young men might head for their countries. They're outraged at the manipulation of the border by bad actors, as yet unidentified. There's also bad feeling about the differences between each others responses to the situation. Consequently they're demanding an emergency meeting to ensure consistency of response should it happen again.

In which case why did Italy, France, Denmark, Czech Republic and Finland call for Schengen to be stopped exactly to stop these young men heading to their countries?

Well strictly true, they say no borders which in my opinion amounts to the same thing. Do you disagree?

Yes it does talk about ‘fair and humane system of managed immigration ’ , but you missed out the end of the sentence ‘where people can move if they wish to do so.’. I’m sure you weren’t deliberately attempting to misquote, but here is the full relevant paragraph:

“The Green Party wants to see a world without borders, until this happens the Green Party will implement a fair and humane system of managed immigration where people can move if they wish to do so.”

France didn’t.

It’s a really good question. Italy potentially to finger point because they have more irregular entrants than Spain. Others to show their population that they take immediate firm action on irregular migration.
