Questions about the recent arrivals in Spain and what happens next

I have some questions..
And I wondered if people knew any answers
Where have all the sudden visitors to Spain come from..
They must of been gathering somewhere,
did no one spot them gathering .
They seem to be all men ,
why Spain ,
Are they Hoping to live there
So this must of been a coordinated effort,
who planned it ..
Will Spain keep them and house them ?
Will they bring their families over
Is it a wind up ..are they all heading home eventually
It's very odd
What is Spain going to do ..will they let them stay like the others .
Spain has a left government?? So they don't mind ?

How? How can they get from Ceuta to mainland Spain?

You cannot lose control of an outer territory and expect your mainland to stay secure. If the EU fails to defend its outer borders, it signals weakness and invites foreign adversaries to push even closer to the homeland.

85,000 Spaniards live there!

I should of just gone on chat gtp
But I don't think they are migrants..are they .
Was it not an organised plan .

Why chatgpt? You could have read literally any reputable news source and found all this out!

That doesn't answer the question though...

Tbh I don’t understand why people care. I know they like to be hysterical about migration but a football stadium of migrants rushing into a Spanish North African enclave - literally the other side of the continent- I don’t believe for a second any British person genuinely gives a shit.

It's clear and organised information and it answers my questions ..
And in response to the other poster ,I usually vote green..but don't like the current leader so wont be doing while he's around.
Not everyone asking questions is planning on voting reform.

There are no small boats taking asylum seekers from Ceuta to mainland Spain. It's not Calais. Every refugee arriving in Ceuta is either returned to Morocco, or detained. Those detained can attempt to apply for asylum in Spain while detained. If they are successful, they travel there legally (and have no need to travel further into Europe, as they are officially accepted in Spain). If they're unsuccessful, they are returned to Morocco.

Asylum seekers on Ceuta are not a UK problem, not have they ever been. But of course that won't stop Farage and Badenoch using them for their own gain.

Because it's such an odd thing to see
It must of been organised, maybe smugglers,or political factors.
But no evidence it was a deliberate stunt .
So maybe a bit like when people panic buy loo rolls ,word spreads on social media and people get swept up in the moment.

Well of course it was organised to some extent. Why does that make it surprising or interesting?

I'm really not. I'm asking how the migrants are any closer to getting into mainland Europe because they swam into Ceuta. They can't claim asylum because they don't qualify, the rumour about the Spanish high court making it illegal to return them to Morocco was false, so how does any of this represent a direct unchecked entry into mainland Europe? Please explain! You've just said words but not answered the question.

They swam around the border. No smugglers required. But of course it was planned and coordinated.

Lankylegs3 · 01/08/2026 19:12

But they can't all want to claim asylum there .

Looks like the vast majority have been returned to Morocco, and lots voluntarily

No they don't
They have no grounds to claim asylum. They want to legally or illegally travel to mainland Europe. There was a misleading claim made that the Spanish high court had ruled it was illegal to return illegal entrants back to Morocco so lots of them decided to make a play for getting into 'spain' maybe assuming they would be transported to the mainland if Ceuta couldn't process them all. They were misinformed and they are being returned.

Immigration is in the top 3 concerns of the U.K. electorate and has been for over 20 years consistently. We all have experienced the negative consequences of poorly controlled immigration and seeing an events like this is obviously concerning.

I just read that as well ..so some are trying to claim asylum and going to be processed.
But some were economic migrants and have been returned home

This is not related to the uk at all. Do you stay on top of the latest news from the refugee situation in Bangladesh or Kenya because you’re so interested in migration? Of course you don’t. You only care when it’s whipped up into hysteria by the media and right wing parties so you can hand wring about it somehow impacting the uk.

Violetdeparma · 01/08/2026 19:20

It's a huge thing in the news and guess what MN is a chat forum .
People can chat about what they like

Victorius19 · 01/08/2026 19:21

I feel horribly sorry for the residents of Ceuta who have had their city vandalised, covered in rubbish and faeces on the streets.

No one wants mass immigration that changes culture and community. But yet Europeans are having it thrust onto them by blind politicians who have no apparent ability to see the long term consequences.

It’s related to the U.K. as Spain is one of the routes into the U.K.

@Backedoffhackedoff it's all over the media because France Norway Italy Czech are outraged by this !

The worry is that there is an insidious group of people who are actively encouraging these consequences.

Yes ..but nothing proved yet
Spain has recently allowed a lot of new people to stay permanently, that has probably driven some of these people to take the risk themselves
