Sorry pressed too soon! @Lifeomars I am glad I am not the only one who emails these outlets regarding biased and ignorant reporting of disastrous heat like this.

Looking at accuweather, today is the hottest in my area then it’ll get fresher but it won’t be fresher in my house until the house cools down

We need houses like you see on the conservatory adverts, cool in summer and warm in winter

Very humid at the moment, and was very hot yesterday. (Up to 32C here.)

Today is predicted to be 29-30C, but it will very likely be 31-32C again, because it's ALWAYS 2-4C more than predicted. I will be in the shade as much as possible. Going to be a bit difficult as I'm meeting a friend this morning and we're having a walk down the river. Plenty of trees so hopefully we'll be OK.

I think it's very sad seeing all the wildfires. I am really sad for all the wildlife/birds etc. Minsmere catching fire and all the 1000s of birds being killed was devastating. 😢

We’ve got 28° forecast today and it’s overcast and humid at the moment. We had rain overnight but nowhere near enough to make any difference.

32° yesterday and we’ve got a couple of days of respite from tomorrow - low 20s - before the temperature rises to the high 20s again. It’s relentless.

I feel like we didn’t have much of a Spring either! It went from being freezing in May to a random 35 degree heatwave.

I don’t like winter at all in this country - I wouldn’t mind a crisp, cold sunny one with some snow.! But we get mild and endless rain.

And now we don’t seem to be set up for the summers to be bearable either! I am eyeing up other countries to decamp when I retire. Maybe Scandinavia.

I want to go swimming today, but I am so sapped by another poor night's sleep that I can't be arsed to trudge to the pool. Probably full of kids anyway.

I think of May as being summer though I must admit. But that's because I am not expecting 35°! In any month but certainly not May!

Yes it’s annoying- I normally love Sprlng! It was a shock to go from freezing to boiling!

Yesterday was so humid and warm it was hard work. Cooler today thankfully and cloudy

It wasn't humid yesterday, but it was building overnight and this morning was revolting

It has clouded over a little bit but apparently the Sun is due back out any minute and it will be horrible humid until tomorrow night.

I know it's not normal to be so obsessed with the weather forecast

@Lifeomars Oh jeez, is Des still doing the weather?! His totally unfunny banter is the reason I switched to Mdlands Today and the far more professional Shafali. Well, that am the fact that I could never unsee Des as being his 90's character from EastEnders!

I know the feeling @EmeraldRoulette- I check the weather forecast obsessively. One of the things I’m hating is having my life so dominated by the weather all the time. I just want to live a normal life and not think about the weather - it needs to go back to normal proportions in my life.

Any slight chance of rain has disappeared from the forecast. I was worried weeks ago but the SE is in a very dire situation right now.

Is anyone near North East Essex? I know I'm in perimenopause but I can't stand the humidity here today, it's making me feel dreadful.

Totally agree but ppl will be fed up of seeing their plants and flowers dying and will think............Fuck it Whats the point.

Got another dentist appointment today. Its the third Tuesday in a row that ive had to have treatment in this heat, Im on a treatment plan I will be booking the next appointment for five weeks time. Im fed up of struggling in this

All I have done today is fight on MN.
I am so angry at not having a summer. I had so much UK travel planned.

I think it almost feels a bit apocalyptic now with the ground and plants just scorched. The aerial pictures of parks are insane. I’ve not yet cut my grass this year (something I’d planned as a paid project for my teenager) but at this point I’ll be asking him to bale up the straw rather than cut the grass!

The photos of non green places are awful.

Yes. I’ve been reading how plants and trees close to houses and buildings significantly reduces the temperature indoors. I’m planning to plant more, not less, though will obviously need to research shrubs and trees that are pretty drought tolerant.

@friedaklein yes I had so many summer plans - all but one vanished, I think. Just a very long slow trudge through the calendar.
Which is what winter is normally like!

@Redsparkleydeeleyboppers I saw a reading of over 80% humidity outside at 7 am this morning(in Essex). My understanding is that we are due a change of wind direction tomorrow afternoon and it will feel better? <clutches at straws>

And if anyone is able to carry their plans outside the summer - there are presumably a lot of practical reasons why you had them for summer - would you actually have the energy for them? I’ve got a lot of recovery and catching up to do - I mean catching up with stuff that I should be doing, but I haven’t been doing. It just feels like such a desperate write off of a long period of time.

This summer started mid June and it’s been awful ever since. Going on and on and feels like one long year of hell

I'm already anticipating their reply which will doubtless say they like to keep the content as "light as possible and to reflect the fact that the majority are enjoying the warm weather"
