I don't know what the temperature is outside now, but it's totally normal and nice - maybe it won't be the horrible tropical night I'm expecting?

When I get home, it will be horrendous. It's just mad. having lived in flat all of my adult life, there's no need for it. They don't have to be built in such a crazy way.

If it wasn't for MN, I wouldn't know that a lot of houses have been built in such a crazy way. I walk past houses and think ooh that must be really nice because they are open two ways and have a garden immediately outside - and they can cover the windows from the outside if need be. I don't mean the new builds either. I'm not quite sure why some houses are so bad.

Another 30 here tomorrow then a ‘hopeful’ 26 on weds.

@AmazingSummer I was stuck on the M25 returning from Essex two weekends ago. We sat barely moving for almost two hours m! Luckily we were near the Lakeside turning and ended up spending the afternoon there before heading the rest of the way home. It’s safe to say that the chocolate we had been given didn’t survive in the car that day. A work colleague of mine also got stuck on the M25 going past Heathrow (always busy) and she ended up stripping down to her bra! She said the looks she was getting were priceless! 🤣

Today has been cloudy here and so my house was bearable with the portable AC on. But the sun came out at about 6ish and you could just feel it heat up again.

I just can’t wait for this all to be over.

Also bought a couple of those 5ltr bottles of water (just in case)

31 here today and an Amber warning. Put central news on and one of the idiot news readers reacted to Des the permanatly happy weather forecaster's mention of a few drops of rain with "oh no, I am really enjoying this sunny weather" FFS!! I was so enraged that i have emailed them to say how biased and unbalanced their coverage of the heatwave is . Not sent it yet and it is sitting in my drafts but i have said that they need to address what the relentless heat is doing to health, the environment and wildlife. I have now reached the stage of yelling at Dex whenever he appears on TV grinning and describing 30 degrees as "warm" and "another lovely day" 😡I get it that some are liking it, but the toll on many people let alone the environment needs to be mentioned.

Good on you, @Lifeomars It always pisses me off the way the forecasters gaslight everyone but especially this year.

put make up on
clean and hoover
These are all perfectly normal things we should be able to do without the sweat pouring off us in rivers

Just to inject a little positivity because I’m always moaning. At least the days are getting shorter which means less sunlight. Hurrah!

It's such a relief now when it gets dark a bit earlier. This whole heatwave has changed my attitude to summer. I used to long for it and lived for warm days, up to about 25 degrees, with some rain to keep things fresh and green. What we have now feels unsettling and wrong. The sunshine feels so cruel and remorseless. I only have a small back yard and everything has just died or been burnt to a crisp, gave up watering it as it was such a struggle in the heat that lingered well into the evening. Might just dig it all up come autumn and bung some cacti in!

IBS was bad today because of overheating in the fucking Sanctuary shithole. Had to take Imodium so i can go dentist again tomorrow Unless you cancel within 48 hours notice its 50% of what you would have paid for your treatment as a cancellation fee. If this shithole ever makes me too ill to go the HA will be getting an invoice

i think more ppl will be paving their gardens over after this.
