How is Ariana Grande allowed to keep going?

She looks like she’s at death’s door with anorexia and yet she’s just kicked off a world tour.

I thought we were living in more enlightened times now and that celebrities’ ill health wouldn’t be enabled like this. If she went to any hospital she’d get admitted for malnutrition.

Who should forbit her to go on?

LittleMonks11 · Yesterday 18:31

I fear she will collapse. I’m guessing her PTSD is a contribution factor.

TheWineoftheChicken · Yesterday 18:32

She’s an adult, she makes her own decisions. Who do you think should be banning her from performing?

Allowed? Who do you think should stop her?

NutellaEllaElla · Yesterday 18:34

The pressure for her to perform will be unimaginable - hundreds of people's livelihoods will be depending on it.

Unless she's sectionable (or whatever they call it in the US), no one can force her to stop. And she will be deeply in denial.

It's very tragic and difficult to watch.

Ihateboris · Yesterday 18:37

She looks emaciated. Where does she get the energy from to keep going 🤔.

Family. Management. Record company. Her doctors. Friends. Even the bloody insurance company for this tour should have a vested interest in making sure she’s healthy.

basically anyone with a personal connection to her or who is currently making money off her.

she looks like she’s at the level of needing an involuntary hold for anorexia to me.

How?

TheToteBagLady · Yesterday 18:45

I agree. She looks so, so unwell

Glowingup · Yesterday 18:46

Really sad. Like Karen Carpenter and Nikki Grahame.

LemonadeisbetterCloudy · Yesterday 18:47

Oh my goodness, I just googled and saw her; this is so sad, I got such a shock. She is such a beautiful woman, and looked so very healthy previously. I agree with not commenting on other women's bodies, but when it is unhealthy and life threatening than it is different. It needs to be addressed because she is a role model for young girls, and this is a disorder. Surely she won't have the energy to perform? Surely a doctor would deem her unhealthy to perform, is there not somebody there to check wellbeing etc.

I wonder what has caused this, I was thinking was it the Manchester 2017 tragedy that started and it has spiralled from there, fame destroys so many. I hope she gets help soon, or this won't end well.

How?

I don’t know if you’re being wilfully dense. Artists have cancelled shows for ill health before. You can get someone treatment without their consent if it’s bad enough.

Additionally, arguably the music industry in general has a duty of care to the general public, and young people in particular, not to market stars who are extremely visibly unwell from eating disorders.

Money and the opportunity to make more money talks. Look at Britney Spears. Not allowed to make any personal decisions but still pushed out to tour. I hope that Ariana has better people around her.

But she doesn't want to cancel.

You want her to.

Are you referring to some recent photos or something?

Most likely you sre right yes but she is a grown taking her own business decisions.

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · Yesterday 18:51

I went to find a recent photo and yes she is skeletal. The problem is that so are many other women in Hollywood at the moment. She could go to an awards ceremony end look completely normal.

I wonder if the industry needs regulating in some way. You read stories about the studios dosing people like Judy Garland up on amphetamines and forbidding her from eating (this is when she was a child in the wizard of oz) and think it sounds barbaric but it was a different time. It’s outrageous if this stuff is still happening in the entertainment industry.

This is so true. The skeletal look appears to be in at the moment.

That's actually a healthier one, I cannot post what I saw as it is too distressing.

There is one of her doing what looks like a ballet type themed performance, and all of her ribs showing. It actually brought a tear to my eye.

Just done a google and it’s shocking she is likely to collapse How awful 😞
