Things you love, which most people hate!

As we have a thread about popular things we hate, I thought it might be fun to hear about the opposite.

Unpopular things that I think are great include:
Bagpipes
The deeply unfashionable Fairport Convention
Pickled gherkins/ onions/ beetroot/ cabbage!

I draw the line at pickled eggs. I was given one in error at the chippy once, and namely tried it. It was like trying to bite into a bouncy ball.

Rats. All rodents really but especially Rats

I don’t want them in my house but I love seeing them freely living their lives outside in a countryside location. There’s a rat on a bird feeder right now I can see, not great and the food will be taken away till they move on, but I can’t help admire its determination and balance. All creatures of this earth just living as they are evolved to.

I like weddings & little yappy dogs Grin

My MIL! She passed away earlier this year and I miss her so much. Wonderful woman,

I love children too, including other people's and all babies. I can't fathom not wanting to cuddle a baby.
I like Shippams paste as well, I've got chicken in the cupboard. (It makes nice fish cakes- the salmon one mixed with mashed potatoes and an egg and fried.)
I like Spam.
I like random people talking to me on the bus etc.

Quite a few of mine have been mentioned. Pineapple on pizza (I buy a plain cheese and add it!), instant coffee tastes much nicer to me than proper coffee, pickled anything (except eggs, I thought I would love them but didn't), cold weather suits me much better (I get sad in Summer) and going by some threads on here: Dogs, I absolutely love dogs especially sighthounds!

And bagpipes
And pickled things

The weather doesn't really bother me one way or the other. Everyone around me seems to be constantly enraged about it. I also don't mind the winter and dark evenings. January and February are two of my favourite months. I'm tired to people being gobsmacked by this and trying to convince me that I'm somehow wrong.

Grocery shopping! Ever since I left home (30 years ago!) I enjoy buying exactly what I want to eat.

Wearing high heels! Apparently my stilettos are now unfashionable but I don't care. They bring me such joy.

I am the same. I absolutely love holding babies....if someone lets me hold their baby, im always so happy and honoured!

Snakes, mice, rats. I saw a rat in our garden once, tucking into some birdseed that had fallen on the ground. It looked so contented. DH was disgusted. I couldn't see how that rat was a worse version of wildlife than the squirrels he finds so cute or the birds we feed.

OP are Fairport Convention uncool? I had no idea. I thought everyone who appreciates that sort of music adores them. They are classic and brilliant at what they do. I can't stand Richard Thompson as a person, but I love his guitar playing. No one better.

Yeah I love it too. I also like seeing what's in the markdown shelf (longlife stuff) to see if I can get any bargains.

I can’t fathom why someone WOULD want to cuddle a baby if it’s not theirs - but then I don’t find pee, poo, puke and screaming particularly endearing 😆

You would love my place of work - there’s always someone bringing in their baby 😩

Luckily I have my own room now but when I was in open plan, I would have to try to escape out of another door so I didn’t have to hold it!

Oh no doubt about it, they're more user-friendly when they're clean and sleeping Grin still love them though. It's the smallness and newness.

Same! I'm childfree by choice and when I was office-based my heart used to sink whenever someone brought their baby in. I'm always happy for other people when they have babies, but invariably everyone thought the merest sniff of a baby's head would 'convert' me. 🙄 I used to worry about offending the new mum by declining to hold the baby, but if I ever gave in people would start giving me these nauseating mawkish smiles, going 'Aaaah' and 'you're a natural' (soooo not true!) and telling me it'd be me next (er, that'd be a big fat nope with a side order of nope.) There was always this assumption that all I needed was to be around a baby and I'd change my mind. 🙄I honestly never understood why anyone gave two hoots about my reproductive choices!

One of the joys of being post-menopausal now is not being subjected to this whole 'let's convert rue' charade or having to hear people 'encouragingly' tell me that there's 'still time'. And if that makes me a grumpy old woman, so be it. 😄

The chances are they won't do any of those when you're holding them

I love Fairport Convention. I’ve seen them most years for the past 15 years or so and I’m in my 30s. They are great live!

Quite a few other things on this thread too but one I don’t think has been mentioned is bats - I love watching them zipping about in the garden and have been thinking about getting a bat box, but everyone keeps telling me not to and how it will ruin my house value. I think they are sweet and they also eat mosquitoes so are most welcome here!!
