Nothing as it isn’t going to be here. Not all of the UK gets hot weather! The West of Scotland has had pretty miserable summers since Covid. My fire is still on every night and my kids were in tights yesterday.

Fellow West Coaster here too, I have my raincoat at the ready for the school run again today. I love where I live we are going away for the bank holiday weekend tonight for some Vitamin D therapy!

hugasaurus · 22/05/2026 08:05

Only 22 forecast where I am in north-east Scotland, which will be a very nice temperature for getting some garden bits done, a barbecue, light exercise. We have air conditioning in bedroom which is a godsend from about May to September as I hate being too hot when sleeping, a nice 16/17 degrees in our bedroom is perfect for me.

I'm surprised you need aircon in north east Scotland TBH.

hugasaurus · 22/05/2026 08:41

We don’t ‘need’ it but our bedroom can get to 25 degrees without it and that’s too warm to be pleasant for me!

Belladog1 · 22/05/2026 08:49

I can't sleep when it's too warm either. But last night it was warm here in Suffolk, but I actually woke up in the night a bit chilly, which was bliss. Love snuggling in.

It's currently 20 degrees here and I'm working from home. Rocking the shorts and vest and plan on getting some washing done and mowing the lawn later. I know its 'no mow may' but it's too long.

yonem · 22/05/2026 08:57

It’s going to be 28 here today and 30s over the weekend, 33 on Monday apparently. I’m pregnant and boiling enough as it is, so I’ll be lying by the fan with an ice lolly. We’ve not long moved into this house and don’t have curtains up in all the rooms yet so I’ll be making DH fix that to stop some of the heat coming in as there won’t be a chance for the house to cool down again as it’s not going to get below 20 overnight.

Is there a heatwave? Most I’m seeing where I am is temperatures around 23 to 27 degrees.

Warm I will admit, but a heatwave, not a chance.

From the met office:
"A heatwave is an extended period of hot weather relative to the expected conditions of the area at that time of year, which may be accompanied by high humidity."

So by the temps you mentioned, yes a heatwave, and plenty of saying we've been forecasted temps of over 30

I've always detested summer/sun/heat/heatwaves, and I dread each and every one of them, they make me physically ill with migraines, skin burning, upset guts, etc., it blinds me too, my haor and clothes stick to me like glue, and they make my menopause worse, so as absolutely always I'll be covering up, staying indoors/in shade as much as possible, which includes being at work, desk and floor fans going, extra cold drinks.

Squirrel60 · 22/05/2026 09:46

Sorry, I meant ''hair'' not ''haor''!

justasking111 · 22/05/2026 10:12

One tip which works for sleeping. Is a cool shower. Do not dry off, wrap yourself in a sheet. Lie down the evaporation from the wet sheet will cool you down.

clearlyy · 22/05/2026 10:41

Off to a birthday party tonight, climbing one of the Yorkshire three peaks on Sunday, doing bugger all Monday, weeding my grandparents garden on Tuesday, then back at work Wednesday. Busy af!

KrazyKatty · 22/05/2026 10:58

One day of summer where I live. Definitely not remotely a heatwave!

It’s cool and damp here and next Tuesday is forecast to get up to 23°c but then it’s back to 18°c the next day and 15°c the day after. Following 7 days around 13°c and wet. 🤷🏻‍♀️

BBC saying watch the elderly we don't want to see them this weekend

Scotland isn't the north pole 😅

I know. Visited family in Inverness during a lovely spell last year, but it was warm, not hot.

Keepoffmyartichokes · 22/05/2026 14:11

Tableforjoan · 22/05/2026 16:57

Currently 28c with a breeze. Girls are in the pool.

I’ve got a nice cold can of cola and the Alexa playing a bit of music.

justasking111 · 22/05/2026 18:43

I sat outside on the decking for an hour. Then it became very overcast. We've also got two nests on the go nearby. Ring collared doves and Tom tits. The parents were AWOL because we were disturbing them so I decided to leave them in peace.

What are you planning on doing in the heatwave ?

I love the summer and I’m on annual leave all week! I’ve ordered a pool for the kids that arrives tomorrow and I’ve stocked up on ice creams. I might buy some Pimm’s.

Pimms of course

frozendaisy · 22/05/2026 19:10

H has joined me in the garden to read with classic FM on
