Fortunately we are heading to the coast where it’s actually not going to be as hot as at home which I’m grateful for. Hopefully a bit of sea breeze as well.

I thinking seaside

Live in a seaside resort and beach at top of our road but will be sitting on our sunbeds topping tan for recently in fuerterventura then booked a pod in a garden at a local hotel for lunch with friends on Monday. One tip I can share is a few years ago we put a large ceiling fan in our bedroom and it’s been a godsend for helping us sleep and even use in winter when ironing or getting ready for a night out. Enjoy the sun everyone!! Use sunscreen and be careful in water - remember float to live!!

sallymonella · 19/05/2026 21:46

I didn't realise there was going to be a heatwave, but great, I'm so fed up with being cold.

Plans won't change, I'll be doing what I normally do at the weekend, ie sport plus meals out with friends.

Doggymummar · 19/05/2026 21:46

Moved to Brighton in December so I can't possibly think what we might do!

RampantIvy · 19/05/2026 21:49

and even use in winter when ironing or getting ready for a night out.

Sorry, but why would you need a fan for those activities?

Ugh same, I’m never warm so this ‘heatwave’ might help me defrost a little but I’ll be very surprised if I’m not sleeping under my electric blanket at night still!
im optimistic I’ll be able to get my legs out during the days though at least. We’ve got some friends round for drinks and food on Saturday, Sunday I think my family are coming round and Monday I’m hopefully going to be parking my arse on a sunlounger in the garden.
25 - 30 is nice and pleasant but not what I consider a heatwave - I’m still looking forward to maybe not wearing thermal top and bottoms though!

You’re me!
Remember last summer when it hit high twenties, low thirties? Everyone moaning about the noise of fans, and not sleeping? I could finally feel my toes, and have just a normal duvet on, fan…what’s a fan? My DD lounged on my patio sipping iced wine, complaining about being too hot and I had a mug of tea, wrapped in my shawl, contemplating lighting the fire pit, still not quite warm enough. In fact I don’t know what warm enough is. I’ve always felt shivery. My baseline temp is 35.5. Thyroid all ok. Just me (and you)🌺

Instructions · 19/05/2026 21:50

Enjoying being warm!

RaraRachael · 19/05/2026 21:53

No heatwave or bank holiday here 😪

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 19/05/2026 21:54

Gardening my soul out. Haven't been able to get near it for weeks with all this rain so there's a lot to do.

Oasisinthearea · 19/05/2026 21:57

Just ordered a new fan so I’ll be next to that moaning.

HerbertHunterIWasBornToLoveYouNSoul · 19/05/2026 21:58

We don't have heatwaves in NEScotland
It just gets a bitty warmer than cauld😎

ainsleysanob · 19/05/2026 21:59

I’m going to sit my lazy arse on my garden settee in full glare of the sun and only move when I want something from inside the house. Such as another glass of wine or a Calippo.

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 19/05/2026 22:00

We are going to a county and western festival.
Thursday to Sunday.
So please it's not going to be the current, rainy unpredictable weather we are currently having.

minipie · 19/05/2026 22:01

We’re going to Athens where it will be cooler and cloudier than here 😮

Celiathebanshee · 19/05/2026 22:02

I’m looking forward to taking my jumper off

midnights92 · 19/05/2026 22:02

scalt · 19/05/2026 20:29

Putting on sun cream for the first time this year.

And wearing my nice airy trainers without socks.

Ive already had the sun cream on this year. Had some hot days already.

Hottest its going to get where i am is 28. Cant wait

PatsFishTank · 19/05/2026 21:42

Heatwave? We're due a couple of days of 21C before it starts raining again. I'd just be glad of a chance get out of jeans and jumpers and turn the heating off.

Its supposed to be lovely from tomorrow till next thursday. Cant see past that

Catsandcwtches · 19/05/2026 22:08

Just checked and the hottest it’s getting in south west where I am is 21C. But will be nice to go to the beach without shivering.

FernsInValley · 19/05/2026 22:11

Anxietyxxx · 19/05/2026 20:15

Im going to okay i had A/C fitted in december 2023 in all rooms.
Learned from the last heatwave, im not gonna cope with that again.
I also have 2 flat gel cooling pillow that i put in the fridge, one for my head and one for my feet.

I allso have a memory fome cooling pillow, and to large tower fans.
Will stock up on Ice and ice lollys.
Yes i think that will do it.

Yes, we have ac and lots of icepacks. I skeep with frozen ice packs under my pillow year round, I don't tolerate heat well.

QwestSprout · 19/05/2026 22:13

Is the heatwave in the room with us? My weather app has my area hitting the heady heights of 18 degrees by the weekend. It says it'll be sunny I suppose...

therockingbird · 19/05/2026 22:15

I’ll be sitting at my beach hut and the flip flops are coming out at last!!

CaesarAugusta · 19/05/2026 22:15

Sit in front of a fan and move as little as possible.

Borborygmus · 19/05/2026 22:19

Stay indoors and complain a lot.

FindingMeno · 19/05/2026 22:38

Lots of gardening and lots of laundry!
