Oh god, I so agree. Three days of sun (in the summer no less!) in this country and mass hysteria breaks out. And it's not even from very old or ill people.

I don’t think it’s hysteria, more excitement after a very long and dreary winter

Totally agree
The teens think the idea of lemon AND lime sorbet is a brilliant idea (as opposed to just lemon) - utter hysteria here

Crikey, that is proper hysteria. But delicious!

I'm talking about the people complaining about it. So many British people talk about it as if they'll be forced to crawl through the Sahara for 3 months. Not 3 days (if we're lucky) of actual real summer weather in a relatively modern house with all mod cons. And yet they've probably booked a fortnight in Turkey in August for their summer holidays. Go figure!

Netcurtainnelly · 21/05/2026 18:51

Being Outside.

NormasArse · 21/05/2026 18:53

I’ll be at my caravan by the sea. Swimming, paddleboarding, playing on the beach, eating nice food, drinking nice drinks!!

thinkingofachange · 21/05/2026 18:55

wait for it to be over

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/05/2026 18:56

It is a heatwave as it’s 3 days + of unusual warmer weather for this time of year

TurquoiseDress · 21/05/2026 19:02

To enjoy every minute of it!

Finally a sunny Bank holiday weekend!!

LlynTegid · 21/05/2026 19:10

I am at an outdoor event on Saturday and so have found the hat and suncream I need.

SuitcaseAndSecrets · 21/05/2026 19:13

Not exactly hot is it? I go abroad a lot so I'm used to hotter.. Sunday we are going to the coast.. tomorrow to quaint old town in the pennines for lunch. Monday probably to the Dales.. rest of time on my lounger in the garden. Got aircon units if needed.

Hebden Bridge? Holmfirth?

Belladog1 · 21/05/2026 19:24

I've had a really chaotic fortnight and my washing has piled up. It'll be great getting it out on the line. I need to clean the house on Saturday but Sunday and Monday i plan on sitting outside and getting some gardening done.

Just remembered, it's my birthday on Saturday. Might pop a bottle of fizz.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 21/05/2026 19:30

Working Sunday, Monday and Tuesday long days but I’ll be out for a long walk Saturday and later next week. Be nice to do it on shorts for a change😎

Im still sceptical it will be that warm! I also live near the sea so it’s normally cooler and it’s been quite cool recently so hard to imagine high 20’s!

bedfrog · 21/05/2026 19:36

I will be lying on my bed feeling lethargic from the heat and only going outside in the early morning and late evening 😂
Thankfully I live in Scotland so it won't be unreasonably hot (🤞)

MikeRafone · 21/05/2026 19:39

Cycling, it’s a bank holiday weekend so the roads will be quieter. I’m cycling everyday anyway so I’ll just enjoy it in the warm weather

justasking111 · 21/05/2026 19:55

Don't think we'll get much above 20c in NW Wales, we may get exciting thunderstorms they're saying. Just need these clouds to fade away.

Rituelec · 21/05/2026 20:36

Looks hot now in suffolk.

Working :(

You’re me!
Remember last summer when it hit high twenties, low thirties? Everyone moaning about the noise of fans, and not sleeping? I could finally feel my toes, and have just a normal duvet on, fan…what’s a fan? My DD lounged on my patio sipping iced wine, complaining about being too hot and I had a mug of tea, wrapped in my shawl, contemplating lighting the fire pit, still not quite warm enough. In fact I don’t know what warm enough is. I’ve always felt shivery. My baseline temp is 35.5. Thyroid all ok. Just me (and you)🌺

And me! I grew up in Australia (£10 Pom family) and I've never been warm since we've come back, and that's 50 years!
Summer of 76? I pushed the sleeves up in my jumper occasionally!
I cannot go out without taking a jumper/ cardigan/ coat "just in case". Used to drive my girls mad when I'd insist they needed a jumper or something.
I work in a supermarket and the air con is bloody cold, and I'm amazed to see people coming in in the summer and leaning over the freezers to cool down. I can't go halfway up the veg aisle when I'm shopping without putting a cardigan or jumper on.
Saying that, I love hot weather, bring it on.

Bluebellsandwishingwells · 21/05/2026 22:15

Panic and just hope I can hold steady.
Have heat intolerance, overly high vitamin D levels currently being monitored by the hospital and a very high chance of skin cancer, exacerbated by a blood disorder 🫩 I was not made for summer.

TutTutTutSigh · 21/05/2026 22:24

I've been abroad twice this year and had very unseasonably cold rainy weather both times 🥶 so I absolutely cannot wait for a long weekend in the sun! Beers in the fridge and nothing in the diary, perfect 👌

I'm typing this in bed wearing joggers, jumper and socks 🤣 I feel you.
