Im going to okay i had A/C fitted in december 2023 in all rooms.
Learned from the last heatwave, im not gonna cope with that again.
I also have 2 flat gel cooling pillow that i put in the fridge, one for my head and one for my feet.

I allso have a memory fome cooling pillow, and to large tower fans.
Will stock up on Ice and ice lollys.
Yes i think that will do it.

Where did you get yours from? We have a portable one but think need to get it done proper in two rooms

Either shutting my door because the noisy kids next door will be screaming and shouting, or door open and moaning and seething that their fricking parents don’t actually parent and let them scream like banshees. Quite often from 8am.
I can only hope that they actually go out unlikely.

joyfuljojo · 19/05/2026 23:04

I always feel deeply under pressure to do something or go somewhere (beach, caravan, city, picnic etc) when the weather finally turns nice. In reality I think we will just spend some time in the garden eating ice pops and jet washing the trampoline. Maybe the beer garden for a tea time drink. Going to a NT on bank holiday Monday but otherwise i think we’ll just take it easy.

We live near the coast (6 miles away) so might go to the beach for a swim. We get sea breezes so it never gets ridiculously hot. I'll walk the dog early.

I wonder what the water quality will be?

DH is planning on working in the garden.

I’m planning on parking my arse firmly on my garden furniture and not moving much.

Supervising DH is a worthy task 😂👍🏻

Looks like an official heatwave! Think it has to be 28c for atleast 3 days here to count in this part of the south east.

What are you planning on doing in the heatwave ?

The one that's on the way

My weather app shows highs of 23 in Suffolk. Hardly extreme

hahabahbag · 19/05/2026 20:29

Just checked, max predicted here (sw) is 24

SE 28. It's going to need to get hotter than that to be considered a heatwave.

Since I had a stroke I can't handle the heat, so selfishly I hope it doesn't get any hotter than that here.

FairViewRosie25 · 19/05/2026 23:15

Make the most of it before it’s back to the dreary depressing days. Love a heatwave!

ComedyGuns · 19/05/2026 23:16

Seriously! You’d think we were going to have 38°C temperatures - get a grip and just put on a linen top!

EffortlesslyDirected · 19/05/2026 23:17

Stay indoors as much as possible (cool
house) and any outdoor time in the shade. We're forecast 28° which is too hot to do much else. Annoying as I've got lots of gardening to do, will have to do it very early or very late.

mondaytosunday · 19/05/2026 23:26

Unfortunately for me, as I hate the heat and find it exhausting, I will be walking around Chelsea in bloom. I will be dying.

It has to be atleast 28c for three days in a row for some areas in SE for an official one. Which it is forecast to be!

Others are lower. For example only has to be 25c in the north of England.

ConstantlyFuriosa · 20/05/2026 02:42

My flat/maisonette with east and west facing windows gets hotter than the sun in summer with anything over 25 degrees resulting in 30 degree plus temp indoors until the sun goes down.

So I shall mostly be weeping.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 20/05/2026 05:05

Eat all my meals out in the garden and drink many cocktails.

Same!

RS1987 · 20/05/2026 06:12

We’re camping!

FlatErica · 20/05/2026 06:16

Met Office says 28 on Friday, 30 on Saturday and Sunday, 29 on Monday and Tuesday, etc. here in Central London.

Thanks for the thread! I had no idea. Now at least I have some warning :-)

MinnieMountain · 20/05/2026 06:18

Ironically, DS and I will be on holiday in Sardinia. DH can't come as he's on crutches and has to keep his leg straight. I expect he'll have his DM round for drinks a few times.

Stoicandhappy · 20/05/2026 06:22

It has to be over 28 degrees for me to take my cardi off so not heatwave territory for me.

RampantIvy · 20/05/2026 06:23

Until I joined mumsnet I didn't know that anyone disliked summer.

I don't know anyone in real life who dislikes warm and sunny weather.

Life is much cheaper for a start - no heating required, and I can hang washing out. The sunshine cheers me up and as I have terrible eyesight the brighter weather means I can see better.
