Is it an 11 egg omelette too much?

Would you say an 11 egg omelette, roughly 3 times per week, is a lot/too much for 1 person?

Far too much. Ridiculous

hexsnidgett · 08/05/2026 21:33

Yes

dontmalbeconme · 08/05/2026 21:33

Yes, probably from a cholesterol point of view. 33 eggs per week seems s lot.

ShakyBake · 08/05/2026 21:34

Ok thank you, I'll tell him now

Ridiculous gluttony

yonem · 08/05/2026 21:35

I’d say too much. I don’t want to imagine the state of his bowels either 😬

Secretseverywhere · 08/05/2026 21:36

When I had chickens I’d regularly make massive omelettes (especially in the summer when there was loads of eggs) and just have a thick wedge for lunch or/ and dinner every day . Just vary what you are chucking in / having on the side.

Chocolattcoffeecup · 08/05/2026 21:36

i suppose it depends on the size of the person but he'd have to be overweight to need that many eggs surely

I'd have 2 for lunch, or 3 for dinner. DH has 4 , for context he is 6' 4 at at the gym a lot. 11 is ridiculous I think it'd make you sick and/or constipated

Bjorkdidit · 08/05/2026 21:41

Depends on what else he's eating.

It would be quite easy to fit an 11 egg omelette, even with filling and toast into an average male adult's daily calorie requirements as long as he doesn't go mad at other meals.

Not especially expensive either, compared with other protein sources.

I don't know why bowels and cholesterol are mentioned, neither are negatively affected by egg consumption.

What are we basing 'too much' on?

Substance · 08/05/2026 21:45

Is the 11 egg omelette eaten by one person at one sitting?

Ineedanewsofa · 08/05/2026 21:45

Surely that’s less of an omlette and more a Spanish tortilla? Does he add potato and onion?
I have two eggs for breakfast every day in some form or other so I’m not anti egg but 11 for one meal seems a lot

OverheardBreakup · 08/05/2026 21:46

So 33 eggs a week 😧

Most recipes for omelettes use 3 eggs, I’d use 2.

FookFookFook · 08/05/2026 21:47

For a male bodybuilder I don't think it would be that outrageous

Eightdayz · 08/05/2026 21:48

Surely an 11 egger would be more of an egg cake

Or do you have a 3 foot frying pan?

Gaul · 08/05/2026 21:49

Weak numbers, now that I'm grown, I eat five dozen eggs. So I'm roughly the size of a barge

Abso · 08/05/2026 21:49

Well, it depends on the rest of their diet and exercise. If they're a real "gym bro" then it's not that much. As long as they're getting their other nutrients.

Sunnydayz · 08/05/2026 21:56

My partner does 6 eggs in one go
Up to 3-4 times each week
I thought that was a lot!
I’d usually eat 2 but may have up to 3 in one go.

Is he doing keto or low carb or something?

I’m not sure there is anything inherently bad about eating that many eggs in one go. It just seems like “too much”

Like eating a quarter or a half chicken seems reasonable. Eating 2 whole chickens is too much.

11 eggs

880 calories
66 grams protein
Pretty good macros

I think my main issue with it is the lack of variety (and therefore variety in nutrients) and lack of fibre.

Substance · 08/05/2026 21:56

How did they land on an even 11? Did they start off making 10-eggers and then one day thought, gosh darn it these omelettes just aren't filling me up?

Devastatednowtotally · 08/05/2026 21:57

He must be seriously constipated

I’m with you, 11 is just weird. Eggs come in 6, 10, 12 … why would you use NEARLY a dozen? 🤯

inmyhair · 08/05/2026 22:02

I think it's fine if it's just 2 or 3 times a week. Daily would be too much
