Is it an 11 egg omelette too much?

Would you say an 11 egg omelette, roughly 3 times per week, is a lot/too much for 1 person?

I'll update tomorrow as showed him this post (I know, I know) and had a blazing row and I've chucked the omelette in the bin and gone round to a friend. I'll update tomorrow

I won’t hold my breath.

As mentioned upthread…

Haha is it wrong to have a cartoon crush 😄

We hardly ever eat breakfast apart from on holiday. If it is somewhere that has an egg station my DH will order a one egg omelette. I always take the piss out of him for this, but this is the other end of the spectrum!

eotwaski · 08/05/2026 23:07

Every now and then I'll have a three egg scramble and I feel like that's being extravagant.

honeybeetheoneandonly · 08/05/2026 23:08

Hm, there is a clear hierarchy of eggs.
Hard-boiled - 1 or 2 max and the second already feels wrong.
Sunny side up - at least two.
Scrambled - four... easy. They scramble to nothing
Cake - 10 - obviously not eaten in one go but I'm pondering whether that's due to social convention....I reckon I could give it a good go.

Well your DH and OPs OH would kick it off. That makes a dozen.

Agree, the other end of the spectrum. But I do have one boiled egg for breakfast.

All those querying the pan size - do you only ever make single portion omelettes?

I make 12-16 egg omelettes (not 11,13 or 15 - eggs aren’t cooked in odd numbers fgs) and we have a quarter each for lunch with a salad (to be clear there are 4 of us).

I make 12-16 egg omelettes
Including lots of cheese and parsley? In one pan? Good grief.
Quiche, shared. Omelettes, individual.
The different lives we lead, eh?

usedtobeaylis · 08/05/2026 23:16

To eat in one sitting, not normal. Is this one of those threads where the man eats everything in the house all the time?

wellbruce · 08/05/2026 23:16

God I would have the serious egg ick after that many omelettes. 3 is more than enough for me.

Aroundthemalepole · 08/05/2026 23:21

RafaFan · 08/05/2026 22:12

Why stop at 11, and leave a single egg in the box? Is the single egg for you?

I agree this is the biggest issue.

Christmasbird · 08/05/2026 23:25

Unless he's jay cutler he probably doesn't need that many whole eggs. Buy him some egg whites in a bottle and just have 4

How big does an omelette need to be before it is just an omel? I’ve always wondered.

viques · 08/05/2026 23:31

How big is the frying pan?

BinNightTonight · 08/05/2026 22:54

It was eggtraordinary Grin

Akshelly, I think a lot of people have whipped it up into hysteria, and in my opinion that is totally the merong thing to do, it’s turning the whole thing into a yolk, and that is not white at all.

ScrambledTofuNeedsKalaNamak · 08/05/2026 23:37

My DH has a 6 egg omelette and it is huge. It is very rare as he will only eat eggs that he knows are absolutely free-range, he won't have any shop bought eggs. I don't eat them, but I'd be a bit worried about issues with cholesterol.

Zov · 08/05/2026 23:41

justasking111 · 08/05/2026 22:56

I think we've est that eggs do not affect cholesterol. Fats are no longer demonised. There's some very outdated opinions still doing the rounds.

Awww, come on! Don't tell me that you believe 11 eggs in one sitting isn't an overdose of cholesterol. Of course it is! Nothing 'outdated' about saying that. It's a ridiculous amount of eggs to eat all in one sitting!

Eggs? Good to eat. 11 in one sitting? Noooooo!

Eggs-actly

sunshinestar1986 · 08/05/2026 23:47

My brother has 6 eggs every single morning, it's the new trend for certain gym goers, he's very fit and healthy. He has that with avocado.
He's shocked at people that think low fat and carbs is an ideal breakfast.
Eh, he does seem to have endless energy nowadays so there's that.

LBFseBrom · 08/05/2026 23:47

Yes. I'd imagine you'd make a big omelette like that (with lovely filling), to share.

I know boxers and some athletes consume a lot of eggs in one sitting. Most of us would have two maximum.

12, which is why the OP's dh stopped at 11... to avoid an egg-based existential crisis?

Imisscoffee2021 · 09/05/2026 00:15

Unless his name is Gaston, yes.
