Is it an 11 egg omelette too much?

Would you say an 11 egg omelette, roughly 3 times per week, is a lot/too much for 1 person?

I'm going to go against the general opinion here and say it's actually a pretty healthy meal. I couldn't eat that many eggs in one go but if it fits his daily calories/macros I really don't see the problem.

Asked Google for the macros..

An 11-egg omelette is a very high-protein meal, with the macro breakdown largely dependent on whether you use only whole eggs or a mix of whole eggs and egg whites.Based on data for 11 large whole eggs, the approximate nutrition is: Eat This Much
Calories: 787
Protein: 69,g
Fat: 54g
Carbs: 5g

God he sounds choice. Does he normally behave like a giant toddler?

I find protein obsessives deeply annoying, and as pp said there's only about 6g of protein in one egg anyway. It's a lot of stodgy constipating gunk for the same amount you'd get in one steak, if you eat meat.

The OP chucked it in the bin but HE’S the giant kid? 🤣

He must be seriously constipated

I was going to say this. 11 egg omelette three times a day if you don't mind not having a dump for a week! Grin

Can you share a diagram of the size of the frying pan please, with a person for scale . I’m struggling to visualise this epic portion.

This is the OP making the 11-egg omelette.

AMatterOfInfiniteHope · 08/05/2026 22:20

Why 11? It’s such an arbitrary number.
Three times a week making it 33 eggs a week. What combination of boxes do you buy. 6 boxes of 6 with three left over? You could make a cake then I guess. Or do you buy 2 boxes of 12 and then a box of 10, but then you’re short by one.

MargaretThursday · 08/05/2026 22:21

Maybe okay if they're budgie eggs.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 08/05/2026 22:22

It does seem excessive!

However an Indian Parsee friend (in India) once told me that an old acquaintance of hers had 14 scrambled eggs for breakfast every day of his life - and had done from a child. She said he was very healthy! Eggs are apparently a significant feature of Parsee cookery.

I suspect that the eggs were probably somewhat smaller than the usual U.K. supermarket ones, though.

husband is having an omelette tonight with some toast as he wants to have a lighter meal (leaving house to take him to airport at 345 tomorrow morning for a 7 am flight to canada) his is 3 eggs, a little bacon..mushrooms sliced and some sauteed onions.. and a small handful of shred cheese. he is NOT a small man.. maybe 210 lbs..and that will stuff him. 11 eggs? fuck no

Agreed. I often make DH a 12 egg quiche which he'll eat half of in the morning and other half at night. He also eats 12 boiled eggs etc It's really no big deal. I've never thought of arguing with him about it, though. We've only been married for 25 years, though. Maybe I'm a novice at this marriage thing and need to take notes 🤪

Keroppi · 08/05/2026 22:24

lmao have you seen the video of the jamaican mother angry that her son made scrambled eggs with 6 eggs? That is what this thread is reminding me of

Yes but the constipation and, also, who has a frying pan large enough?

FourBlackCats · 08/05/2026 22:26

RidiculousRed · 08/05/2026 22:12

This was my first thought too. 11 is such a rogue number to have stuck with.

Maybe they are terribly clumsy and drop 1 egg from the dozen every single time they make their omelette.

It being 11 is what bugs me the most about this 😆

11 bumbaclart pussyclart eggs Steven!!!

Wow! Why? No self awareness at all. And I bet that is just the tip of the iceberg.

Gaston's song is the best song in the history of best songs.
"Roughly the size of a baaaaaaaaaaaaarge!!!!!!"

Came on here to ask that! Grin

🎵🎵🎵
When I was a lad, I ate four dozen eggs
Every morning to help me get large
And now that I'm grown, I eat five dozen eggs
So I'm roughly the size of a baaaaarge!

Maybe he is a gentleman so likes to leave an egg in the box for his delicate lady wife.

Fiftyandme · 08/05/2026 22:29

Depends on many factors.

just for starters, whole eggs? Size of eggs? Just egg whites? A mix?

Hiw many calories does he need just to maintain?

is he recomping/building muscle?

What’s his TDEE?

what else is he eating?

Lots of snap judgments here

Happyjoe · 08/05/2026 22:29

11 eggs... isn't that just really boring? 3 times a week - total lack of imagination at meal times!

CypressGrove · 08/05/2026 22:30

ShakyBake · 08/05/2026 21:34

Ok thank you, I'll tell him now

Edited

You'll tell him that a bunch of strangers online think that an 11 egg omelette is too much?? It's too much for me sure, but not sure whats that got to do with 'him'. I'm assuming he is an adult and can make his own decisions about what he eats, and I doubt he'll appreciate the advice.

She throws his food in the bin because she’s decided it’s too much and he’s the child?
