Would you say an 11 egg omelette, roughly 3 times per week, is a lot/too much for 1 person?

Not if you're a grizzly bear fattening up for winter hibernation 😂😂

Dh is a 6’6 very muscly gym goer with a fast metabolism and an huge appetite, and he has 5/6 eggs a day maximum in an omelette sometimes; so I really cant imagine who on earth would need 11.

Good grief! I’d struggle to finish a 2-egg omelette. Is this person a sumo wrestler or Mr Greedy?

I read somewhere that we are recommended to not eat more than 5 eggs per week for cholesterol reasons, if that helps.

Edited

Old, old advice. There’s no limit on the number of eggs recommended nowadays.

If he can eat an omelette of that size and his overall diet is appropriate to his needs, crack on.

edit: Gaston? I don't know how that is sorry I'll look them up

Edited

....now he's roughly the size of a barge!!!!@

MassiveOvaryaction · 08/05/2026 22:41

What do you do with the last egg in the box @ShakyBake? Are you allowed that one?! Why has he hit on 11, does he think the round dozen is gluttonous?

Also, is he Mr Strong?

For everyone querying why 11....(Sorry OP, couldn't resist.)

Toobero · 08/05/2026 22:44

My dp has 8 a day- at least. Seems fine on it. Bowels unremarkable and in fine shape.

Laura36TTC · 08/05/2026 22:45

Absolutely ridiculous! My husband (who is a big man) usually has a 2 egg omelette or 3 eggs if he is extra hungry

Nogimachi · 08/05/2026 22:47

Perhaps he should get an ostrich.

ClayPotaLot · 08/05/2026 22:47

Too much cholesterol if he's eating all the yolks. But for a meal, 11 eggs is about 800 calories. Which isn't outrageous for a main meal for most blokes. If he's after the protein, he could just replace half or more of the yolks with more whites and he'd avoid most of the bad aspects and increase his protein intake. Should have a salad with it too though, for the roughage, as even 4 or 5 egg yolks is fairly high in cholesterol for one meal.

BeardySchnauzer · 08/05/2026 22:49

All those querying the pan size - do you only ever make single portion omelettes?

I make 12-16 egg omelettes (not 11,13 or 15 - eggs aren’t cooked in odd numbers fgs) and we have a quarter each for lunch with a salad (to be clear there are 4 of us).

Cherrytree86 · 08/05/2026 22:49

It’s fine, OP

ThatLemonBee · 08/05/2026 22:50

I would t eat as much but 33 eggs a week is not to much and it will cause no ill health at all . Eggs are very healthy

Not when you eat 11 in once sitting. It is far too much choleseral, fat, and calories. 2000 mg of cholesteral in fact, and almost 1000 calories. All in one sitting. No way is this 'healthy.'

I think we've est that eggs do not affect cholesterol. Fats are no longer demonised. There's some very outdated opinions still doing the rounds.

OonaStubbs · 08/05/2026 22:57

11 eggs in one omelette for one person is disgusting gluttony.

Anyone else kind of want an omelette now?

I do but only a 10 egg one.

Yetone · 08/05/2026 22:59

RidiculousRed · 08/05/2026 22:12

This was my first thought too. 11 is such a rogue number to have stuck with.

Maybe they are terribly clumsy and drop 1 egg from the dozen every single time they make their omelette.

Maybe an 11 egg omelet is all that can be crammed into the frying pan.

Far too much.
