Is it an 11 egg omelette too much?

Would you say an 11 egg omelette, roughly 3 times per week, is a lot/too much for 1 person?

I'd have 2 for lunch, or 3 for dinner. DH has 4 , for context he is 6' 4 at at the gym a lot. 11 is ridiculous I think it'd make you sick and/or constipated

This exactly.

CupcakeDreams · 08/05/2026 22:03

For a man? 3x a week? No. Is he into strength training or keto? Does he need protein? It's fine, regardless.

how big are the eggs? I had teeth out recently and an infection in the mouth and I could only eat very soft food non chewable for several days and nothing bitty or fibrous. I was eating 5 scrambled eggs twice a day but they were the posh blue ones and not very big eggs.

ShakyBake · 08/05/2026 22:04

I'll update tomorrow as showed him this post (I know, I know) and had a blazing row and I've chucked the omelette in the bin and gone round to a friend. I'll update tomorrow

I don't know how anyone (other than Giant from Gladiators maybe) could possibly finish an 11 egg omelette in one sitting. I can be greedy as anything and I love eggs (and especially in an omelette) but three is a struggle (admittedly I add some chicken and cheese too though). Eggs are so filling though.

lol I'm gonna tell my DH I'm only going to feed him women portions as per MN and see if I can throw a pan out to get the new ones I really want 😄

God he sounds choice. Does he normally behave like a giant toddler?

I find protein obsessives deeply annoying, and as pp said there's only about 6g of protein in one egg anyway. It's a lot of stodgy constipating gunk for the same amount you'd get in one steak, if you eat meat.

This thread is brilliant

Yes, probably from a cholesterol point of view. 33 eggs per week seems s lot.

Eggs have minimal effect on blood cholesterol.

RafaFan · 08/05/2026 22:12

Why stop at 11, and leave a single egg in the box? Is the single egg for you?

RidiculousRed · 08/05/2026 22:12

WinWhenTheyreSinging · 08/05/2026 22:00

I’m with you, 11 is just weird. Eggs come in 6, 10, 12 … why would you use NEARLY a dozen? 🤯

This was my first thought too. 11 is such a rogue number to have stuck with.

Maybe they are terribly clumsy and drop 1 egg from the dozen every single time they make their omelette.

Do you even need to ask?! Of course it's too much!

honeybeetheoneandonly · 08/05/2026 22:16

Oh dang. Was just driving by the trending threads and now need to watch this. Darn cliff hangers always hook me in.
OP, 11 eggs is not worth falling out over. Is this just the tip of an iceberg?

taybert · 08/05/2026 22:17

I don’t care about the macros or comparing it to other forms of protein or if he’s a bodybuilder. An 11 egg omelette just isn’t decent. Too many eggs. End of discussion.

Left · 08/05/2026 22:17

Can you share a diagram of the size of the frying pan please, with a person for scale . I’m struggling to visualise this epic portion.

Givemeausernamepls · 08/05/2026 22:17

Mr Strong sometimes eats 100…

Eightdayz · 08/05/2026 21:48

Surely an 11 egger would be more of an egg cake

Or do you have a 3 foot frying pan?

😆

DriveSelfNuts · 08/05/2026 22:18

This thread is very entertaining and MN is always funny about food portions.

DP regularly eats 6-7 egg omelettes, probably once or twice a week. He doesn’t obsess about protein but tries to limit starchy carbs and has to fill up somehow, so a fairly big omelette with some veg in it does the job nicely. For dinner and without any carbs, I can easily have 3-4 eggs too, although I prefer a frittata.

11 seems quite a lot but mostly because it just feels like an incredibly boring and fairly heavy meal. Eggy creations have a funny texture and are quite filling. Forcing 11 down seems joyless but I’m not opposed to it in principle.
